Where is it

Dordogne

Combe Capelle is a beautifully restored Périgordian house, is set in its own secluded grounds, surrounded by open fields and woodlands. However, it is only 10km from the popular Bastide towns of Beaumont, and Monpazier, just two of the numerous Bastide towns to be found in this part of the Périgord area.

Beaumont, the administrative centre of the Canton, has many fine architectural features dating back to the14th century, in particular the fortified church, built in the English Gothic style. The town provides all the amenities that you require, whether they might be providing for everyday requirements, dining out at the variety of restaurants or just sipping a drink whilst watching the world go by ... you and your family will benefit from the traditional tranquillity and ambience of the typical French way of life.

For those who enjoy a more active holiday, there are numerous nearby facilities for canoeing, walking, cycling, horse riding, golf and many other activities in the area.

The front door leads into an open-plan ground floor area, which has beamed ceilings and stone walls throughout, and has been tastefully decorated in a traditional style, to a very high and comfortable standard.

Also leading off the landing area is

A more traditional feature, however, is an attractive l'oeil de boeuf window, overlooking the pool area below.

Exterior:

The property is approached by a private gravel drive of approximately 100m, leading to a parking area in front of the house. It is sheltered from the main road and other properties by woodland and fields. Alongside this area are some stone walls - the remains of a previous dwelling (a future project for the owners!) - which is built into the side of a steep bank, which runs the length of the grounds. This has been made into an attractive quarry-like feature of the garden, and provides the shade for the barbecue area. Beyond the house is the large swimming pool with Roman steps and a gentle slope away from the shallow end. The pool has paved surrounds, providing a luxurious suntrap - an idyllic spot in which to relax on the recliners, and enjoy the quiet of the French countryside.
