A converted Gascony barn designed for 2 people with swimming pool. The property is in a quiet rural area and has a large shady garden. It is just the place to get away from the rush of modern day living.

There are no other holiday lets on the property and you are assured of a peaceful relaxing holiday. Free internet access.

Nearby airports are with 1-3 hours driving time - Toulouse, Bordeaux, Bergerac, Lourdes, Pau.

There are plenty of attractions to visit in the area and the Pyrenees, Lourdes and Spain are but a short distance away.

Holiday Accommodation at Just for 2!

The self contained converted barn, part of an old farmhouse, is situated in a quiet, secluded rural area of Gascony, close to all amenities. The property is situated in a cul-de-sac and there is little or no passing traffic.

We offer a relaxed holiday for the weary traveller who wishes to rest in a tranquil haven. Ideal location for both the house hunter and holidaymaker wishing to explore the Pyrenees and surrounding area. Wi-Fi access is provided.

This centrally heated gite is fully equipped and is ideal for 2 people, but a third person can be accommodated on a Z bed.

  • Downstairs twin bedded en-suite bedroom with ceiling fan, stays cool even on the hottest day. Bed linen provided.
  • Large comfy lounge with balcony, equipped with satellite TV, DVD/video, Hi-Fi, offers complete relaxation. Free internet (wi-fi).
  • Kitchen is fully equipped with cooker, oven, kettle, toaster, iron, microwave and fridge. A washing machine is shared with the owners.

Outside:

  • Large shady garden offers beautiful views over the countryside, with the Pyrénées in the distance. Just imagine sitting in the garden listening to nature go about it's business, without passing traffic or any other noise.  There is plenty to do and glorious scenery abounds in this area.
  • Swimming pool and 1¼ acres of shady gardens are shared with the owners, who live on the premises. The pool has an alarm meeting NF P 90-307 (French Government specification).
  • Barbecue and garden furniture are provided.

About Fontrailles in Hautes-Pyrénées, Midi Pyrenees

Fontrailles is in the Gascony region lying between the Pyrenées and the River Gironde to the north. Gascony is the home of D'Artagnan (of The Three Musketeers fame) and is also a region which was long fought over by England and France.

Castles, fortified churches, 'bastide' towns and villages dating from that time can be found all over the area. Caesars Way and the Pilgrimage Way are a testament to the time of Roman occupation and later, when pilgrims pass through en route for Santiago di Compostella.

Towns and villages nestle amongst the fields of maize, tobacco and sunflowers in a rich, rolling landscape and, in contrast to their turbulent past, local communities now pride themselves on their Armagnac and prowess in rugby. It is the gastronomic area of France and is famed for 'foie gras', 'confits' and 'garbure', a meaty soup which is best enjoyed with a local red wine. There are a number of restaurants in the area and we can advise you on their location and fare. The local Ferme Auberges offer superb local traditional menus.

The local town of Trie sur Baïse offers all the basic requirements - Bank ATM, UK & international newspapers, a small supermarket, bakers, butchers and greengrocer are all situated around the pretty main square where a bustling market is held every Tuesday. Many other towns hold markets throughout the week.

From May onwards the town offers various attractions including a Classical Music Weekend, antiques and night markets as well as the local fête in August with the infamous Porcailhade and a week of entertainment; the local racecourse holds it's annual meeting in August. Nearby Mirande (25kms) has an International Country and Western week in mid July and Marciac (34kms) hold an International Jazz Festival, attracting well-known artistes, in early August.

Other villages and towns have their annual fêtes and Festivals throughout the summer, details of which are well publicised locally.

Golf, fishing, horse riding, tennis, rafting, cycling, bird watching, painting and walking are among the many activities that can be enjoyed in the area.

How To Get To Fontrailles in Hautes-Pyrénées, South West France

Nearest airports served from the UK are either Pau (60mins) (Ryanair) or Toulouse (90mins) (Various airlines including BA, Easyjet, Jet2.com, BMI). Lourdes/Tarbes (45mins) has daily flights from Paris. Tarbes is also served by TGV from Paris.

A car is essential as there is little or no public transport.

The channel ports are all served by motorways with St Malo (425 miles) being the nearest.

A detailed map will be provided, on booking, but we are close to Trie sur Baise - east of Tarbes.

Additional price information

  • The accommodation changeover day is Saturday.
  • The property will be available from 4pm and should be vacated by 10am on the day of departure. 
  • A breakage/deposit will be required of £150, payable in advance. . This will be returned within 14 days of the end of your holiday.
  • A booking deposit of £150 is required and the full rental should be paid 8 weeks prior to the start of the holiday or in full, if booked in less than 8 weeks prior to the start of the holiday.
  • The rental includes electricity, gas, water, water heating, wi-fi access, taxes and bed linen. Towels can be hired €5.00 person per week.. A heating supplement may apply in April/May.
  • We prefer payment in £sterling using online/telephone banking. We can accept payment by credit card using PayPal. Payment must be in full and in euros.
  • June, July and August bookings. Prior to 31st March 2012, please enquire about booking arrangements as these dates are held on an agency database whose prices may differ from those shown on this website.
