17th Century Chateau with Swimming Pool in Tranquil Setting

Chateau de Combis is a magnificent family owned 17th century Chateau with twin towers, boasts a south facing courtyard and gardens and grounds of 35 acres, with beautiful views to the Pyrenees.

The grounds include lawns, flower beds, a large orchard, formal and informal trees and extensive well maintained lawns. The Chateau has a gorgeous swimming pool with natural shade.  There is a large shady area for eating outside adjacent to the house.

The Chateau has been fully restored by the present owners and the rooms are exceptionally spacious, sunny and peaceful. It retains many of its original features including: painted ceilings, tiled floors and three fine chimneys.  The Chateau is however fully modernised for family life, with English satellite TV/radio.

Holiday Accommodation at Chateau de Combis

Ground Floor

  • Very fine entrance hall with magnificent stairway.
  • Large formal salon with walnut fireplace with windows on 3 sides, opening onto the terrace/gardens. 
  • Family sitting room with 5 large sofas and Sky tv, south facing and opening onto the courtyard.  Wood fire. 
  • Further family room with sofas, tables for games, bookcases, local maps, space for table tennis.  Opens onto courtyard.  Wood fire.
  • Very large kitchen with round table that comfortably seats 12, modern appliances and work-tops, double oven cooker, microwave and fridge.  Further fridge and freezer in adjacent grange.  Opens to both courtyard and terrace/gardens.

First Floor

There are 6 double bedrooms located on the first floor.

All the first floor rooms and spacious landing have high beamed ceilings and large double windows.

  • Master bedroom with 7ft panelled bed and ensuite bathroom in the tower.
  • Two further bedrooms with double beds, of which one is ensuite.
  • Two bedrooms each with 2 single beds.
  • Further double bedroom in 2nd tower.

The high ceilings and thick walls ensure that even in the height of summer the Chateau remains cool and airy.

Additional Services (included in the price)

Cleaning twice weekly, linen and towels provided, weekly gardener, assistance if required from the guardian who lives close by, pool maintenance if required.

About St Soulan in Gers, Midi Pyrenees

Chateau de Combis stands in its own land in a very quiet and rural situation. Though not isolated, there are fields generally of sunflowers and woodlands. There are two lively towns about 4 miles away. Samatan has a weekly market and is the centre of the Foie Gras industry. Lombez has a fine cathedral and covered market place. Both towns have very good food shops. There are several restaurants that offer local delicacies.

The Gers is a quiet and peaceful farming landscape, sunny and friendly. Auch is 30 minutes to the North and has a beautiful cathedral and links with Dartagnan. Toulouse, 35 minutes by car from the property, is a bustling City, great for exploring. For a day spent in the mountains, the Pyrenees are within one and a half hours drive. Both the Atlantic and the Med are a 3 hours drive. Pau, Lourdes and Carcassonne are all a day trip.
