About St Paul La Roche in Dordogne, Aquitaine
Days Out:
On our doorstep, and one of the most beautiful, the chateau at Jumilhac has a fascinating history and is well worth a visit. Your time will also be well rewarded by a trip to Bourdeilles, perched on its cliff and dwarfing the village below with its towering donjon. Puyguilhem at Villars, Hautefort, Mareuil, and Les Bories at Antonne, are all nearby. Further afield are the Chateaux of the Dordogne valley.
Just a few examples of other interesting visits are:
- Brantome - "the Venice of the Perigord " and its abbey.
- Bourdeilles - a charming village as well as an imposing chateau
- St. Jean de Cole - one of the "most beautiful villages of France" especially during the floralies in May.
- Limoges and St. Yriex for Porcelaine, Le Bugue for caves, its aquarium and medieval village, Les Eyzies, caves and pre-history museum, and the Dordogne valley for canoeing, caves, chateaux, and spectacular scenery.
There is an abundance of places to go and things to do, the question is are you able to drag yourself away from the Granary to sample what the region has to offer !
Eating Out
If you enjoy eating out then you couldn't choose a better region for your holiday. The Perigord is world renowned for its cuisine and fresh produce including Foie gras, truffles, walnuts, and of course the wine! We can give you plenty of recommendations for a variety of eating experiences. Choose from little local restaurants with their "plat du jour" or gastronomic feasts at amazing prices.
