Family Friendly Holiday Homes near Vendee Beaches

Maison Lairoux holiday homes are set in the heart of The Vendee countryside in the small village of Lairoux - only 15 minutes from the beautiful sandy beaches of the Southern Vendee and 10 minutes from the bustling town of Luçon.

Our two holiday homes share a heated 12m x 7m swimming pool and have full use of the extensive gardens with panoramic views over the valley below, the well equipped games room and the gym.

Both houses are fully equipped to a high standard and are very family friendly, with owners living on-site.

Holiday Accommodation at Le Vieux Café

At the turn of the twentieth this house was the hub of village life as it used to be the local restaurant and café. It has undergone many changes over the years and is now laid out as a comfortable three-bedroom Gite - perfect for family holidays. The house can sleep up to eight people, plus a baby.

The house contains many of its original features, along with all home comforts such as:

  • Fully equipped kitchen - complete with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and conventional oven.
  • Living room - with a 32" flat screen TV, DVD, UK and French satellite channels and a laptop loaded up with free internet access and email facilities. There is a metal-framed sofa bed available in the living room.
  • Two twin bedrooms - each room overlooks the swimming pool, gardens and have views to the Marais beyond. A third single bed can be placed in one of the twin rooms if needed.
  • Master bedroom has lovely views towards the village church.
  • Two bathrooms contained in the Le Vieux Café – one with a shower (on ground floor), the other with a bath and overhead shower.

If you have a young child, we can provide a free cot, high chair, changing facilities and other essentials for your visit.

Outside:

  • The house comes complete with barbecue and outside dining area.
  • There is also a large Games Room, complete with table tennis, Xbox 360 and hundreds of toys, games, books & DVD library.

About Lairoux in Vendée, Pays de La Loire

You will be spoilt for choice when trying to decide which beach to visit! There are over 25km of sandy beaches only 20 minutes away. The coastal towns of L'Aiguillon, La Tranche sur Mer and La Faute are nearby, with Les Sables D'Olonne a little further up the coast.

We are only 8km from Luçon where you will find a great weekly market on Saturdays, along with many bars & restaurants.

Other attractions nearby include the fantastic Puy du Fou theme park and Futuroscope near Poitiers - both only a 60 minute drive away.

For a more tranquil day out, the Marais Poitevin is only 70 minutes away, where you will find the famous 'Venise Verte' with its miles of canals and waterways.

La Rochelle is only 40 minutes away with its bustling harbour and cafes spilling out onto the pavements, a modern aquarium and stylish shopping arcades.

There are also 5 golf courses in the area, from as little as 40 minutes away.

How To Get To Lairoux in Vendée, North West France

Maison Lairoux is situated in the small village of Lairoux, approximately a 3.5 hour drive from St Malo, 5 hours from Cherbourg or 7.5 hours from Calais.

We are close to the town of Luçon which has good rail and motorway links.

We are also only 40 minutes away from La Rochelle Airport or 1 hour from either Nantes or Poitiers Airport. Car hire can be arranged from these airports.

All local airports are served by various budget airlines - such as Ryanair, FlyBe or EasyJet.

At the turn of the twentieth century Le Vieux Café was the hub of village life as it used to be the local restaurant and café. It has undergone many changes over the years and is now laid out as a comfortable three-bedroom Gite - perfect for family holidays.

The house contains many of its original exposed stone walls and wooden beams, along with all modern home comforts. Outside there is a private seating area with a BBQ - perfect for relaxing after a long day of lying by the pool!

In the living room you will find a TV with UK and French satellite TV channels, a DVD player, a CD/radio player with USB connections for MP3 players. There is also a laptop with free secure WiFi Internet access & email facilities. The living room comfortably seats 6 guests, and the sofa converts into a double bed for extra sleeping facilities.

The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave & conventional ovens, along with plenty of crockery & cutlery for everyone - there is also a range of plastic plates, beakers, cutlery and bowls for younger guests. There is also a dining table that can extend to seat 8/10 guests. Beyond the kitchen there is a ground floor shower room which have been totally renovated for 2012, with shower, hand basin and WC. A high chair and plastic crockery/cutlery are available for small children.

Upstairs, there are three bedrooms. The large master bedroom has a double bed, large wardrobe and views across to the village church. A cot is also provided in this room for younger children. The other two bedrooms each have two single beds - these can be made into double beds if needed, and a third single bed can be placed in one of the rooms if required. The stairs have gates at both top and bottom for the security of your children. All bedrooms have ceiling fans for your comfort during the hot summer months.

Bed linen, hand, bath and tea towels are included within the rental price, but please bring your own pool towels.

There is a second bathroom on the first floor with a full-sized bath and overhead shower, hand basin and separate toilet.

The house has radiators for the winter months and the heating costs are included in with the rental price.

Our swimming pool is 12m x 7m and is heated from Easter until the end of September. There are many sun loungers for relaxing and lots of inflatables to play with.

We have built a new gym area, containing a Rowing Machine, Cross Trainer, two Stationery Bikes and Weights Machine and free-weights.

In the garden there is a Boules Court and swings for the children, along with picnic tables and a large lawned area to play ball games.

We also have a large, well-stocked games room - with XBox 360 with a large selection of games, table tennis, table football, huge library of DVDs, board games, dressing-up clothes, lego, barbies and lots of books & other toys for all ages.
