Beautiful Stone Gite with Pool in the Gaillac Wine Region
Your gite is situated in the heart of the Gaillac vineyards overlooking the rolling unspoilt Tarn countryside with its vines and sunflowers. The outstanding views extend to the Gresigne Forest.
The centre of the village of Cahuzac sur Vere is just a short stroll away. Cahuzac is a thriving village that boasts three very popular bakers, an extremely fine butcher, plus an excellent restaurant, an auberge (open for lunches only), a pharmacy, a bar/tabac , mini-market and other commerce.
The nearest town, Gaillac is only a 10 kilometre drive away. This pretty pink bricked market town provides all of the normal amenities and is at the centre for the local wine industry.
There are many opportunities to pursue leisure activities in this area of such beautiful and varied countryside (canoeing in the gorges, walking, fishing, horse riding, cycling and golf etc).
Holiday Accommodation at Le Pressoir
Le Pressoir is stone built and converted from the original wine pressing and storage area. The gite adjoins the main farmhouse but offers complete privacy. It stands in approximately 7 acres of rolling countryside.
Le Pressoir is all at ground level and sleeps 4 in great comfort with:
- Two bedrooms - one double-bedded room with en-suite bathroom, one twin-bedded room with en-suite "walk-in" shower room. The rooms have fitted storage space and are tastefully furnished and decorated.
- Open-plan living/kitchen area which overlooks the pool and provides magnificent views of the surrounding countryside. The living area includes comfortable chairs and a sofa, satellite TV, a Playstation games console, DVD player, a mini Hi-fi system (CD & MP3) and broadband access. The kitchen area is extremely well equipped with electric cooker/ceramic hob, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave plus all equipment and utensils. There is also a washing machine, iron and ironing board.
- Two terraces; one is covered and shaded from the sun, completely private with beautiful views towards the village. It has a table, chairs and a large portable barbecue; the other terrace faces towards the pool and is a perfect place to sip a glass or two of wine whilst watching the sun go down!!!
- Outdoor games such as petanque and quoits are available and there is a table tennis table with bats and balls provided.
- A short path through the garden takes you to the large 10m x 5m south facing swimming pool with sun bathing area equipped with loungers and parasols.
About Cahuzac Sur Vere in Tarn, Midi Pyrenees
The three nearest towns form the corners of the so called “golden triangle”:
Gaillac - the nearest market town and centre of the local wine region. Markets are on Friday mornings and highly recommended. During the summer friday evenings see open air concerts held in the Abbey grounds - wine and food are usually included. This friendly town is worth a visit for coffee or lunch and a wander around the older quarters.
Albi - A lively ancient city, founded by the Romans (c.100BC). Enjoy walking around the pedestrianised old quarter, admire the red brick gothic Saint Cecile cathedral, soak up the views of the river Tarn and explore the Toulouse-Lautrec museum and gardens.
Cordes-sur-Ciel - a must to visit, it is situated 110m above the surrounding countryside and is probably the most beautiful 'bastide' in France (c.1250). It was built in the 13th century in the aftermath of the devastation of the crusades against the Cathars led by Simon de Montfort. Cordes offers fantastic panoramic views, wonderful architecture which is steeped in history with plenty of shops and restaurants.
The area is conveniently located for three airports:
