At La Meliniere you can enjoy a peaceful, quiet, stress-free holiday beside the swimming pool or cast your line in the lake or you can use the superb facilities as a base to explore the many attractions and places of interest offered in the Loire Atlantique, Maine et Loire regions of France.

La Meliniere Gites are situated in the delightful french countryside between Chateaubriant and Cande, Anger and Nantes. These are the largest towns between 5, 20 and 45 minutes minutes away all with supermarkets, banks, chemists, bars and restaurants

There are two gites, Gite 1 sleeps 6 persons plus infants and Gite 2 sleeps 2 persons plus infants.

La Baule and St Nazaire are around an hours drive. Nearby are Lakeside beaches with safe swimming, picnic areas, an indoor swimming pool, and lakes with daily fishing licenses.

Holiday Accommodation at Gite 1

Ground floor

  • Large open plan area with lounge, diner and fully equipped kitchen, ie microwave, full oven, fridge, and dishwasher. There is a TV (French ) and a DVD player, and for the reader several books. There is an open fireplace and central heating for Winter letting.

Upstairs

  • Two double bedrooms each with an extra single bed, and one with toilet and washbasin
  • Twin bedroom
  • Shower room with a washbasin and toilet.

About Challain La Potherie in Maine-et-Loire, Pays de La Loire

La Meliniere is surrounded by beautiful unspoilt countryside in the Loire valley just North of the river Loire. There are local chateaux, magnificent churches and many grand old buildings for those with an eye for classical architecture, to visit and enjoy For the connoisseurs the wine route along the Loire river is a must.

Most towns are lively and colourful with outdoor markets at least once a week where you can buy fresh local produce, immerse yourselves in the real sights and sounds of rural France and have coffee at the pavement cafe's.

If you fancy a day on the beach La Baule and St Nazaire can easily be reached in just over an hour, or there is a man-made beach at a local reservoir about 30 minutes away with supervised bathing in high season. It's easy to forget that England is just a few hours away.

Close by are Chateaubriant, Nantes, Angers, Rennes, Redon, Laval and Vitre each offering their own blend of shopping, history, and attractions to satisfy all tastes and interests. If you are a motor sport fan, Le Mans is an hour away so "La Meliniere" can be your quiet hideaway, away from al; the noise and activity.

Our village of Challain la Potherie has a superb Chateau open to the public, bar, post-office/general store, bakery and  a large lake for fishing and evening walks.

Five minutes away is the town of Cande, hosting bars, restaurants and a variety of shops not forgetting our local Super-U, supermarket.

  • All linen, kitchen and hand towels are included in the rates.
  • Clients are asked to provide their own towels for the pool.
