The Moulin du Pontour is a 3 star property situated on a private island in the Charente River. When you drive across the bridge onto the island you will find yourself transported to a haven for Nature's diversity. A mill has occupied this site since the 15th Century. There are 5 acres of garden and lawn to explore.

The original mill owner's cottage has been renovated to a high standard, providing a wonderful base for a holiday. If you want to give yourself a treat, evening meals can be provided using vegetables from the garden, local produce including fish from the river washed down with a small but interesting selection of wines and cognacs.

Spacious, modern loft living, perfect for couples.

Le Loft is a newly converted former grain barn with double height ceiling and beams for guest's sole use. It is a spacious studio apartment situated on the first floor and accessed by an external stone staircase. There is a modern fitted kitchen. Both windows have views over the Charente.

About the location

Pontour is a small hamlet on the Charente River. Life is very tranquil, a paradise for nature lovers and fishermen.

We are situated in the heart of the cognac producing region. The Cognac houses of Jarnac and Cognac are close by. The ramparted town of Angouleme, which offers good shopping, is half an hour away.  Locally there are many good restaurants and supermarkets.
