Welcome to Les Etoiles in France

We (your hosts Christine and Pete) would like to welcome you to our estate in Antigny nr Poitiers in rural France where we have lovingly developed one of our outbuildings to a 3 bedroom Gite.

We moved out to France a few years ago seeking the 'new life in the country' and purchased an estate in the Gartemps river valley. Our desire was to set up a family run B&B and Gite in the French countryside offering the best service possible, and the most relaxing experience possible. Set at the end of a cul-de-sac there's no passing traffic and all you're likely to be disturbed by are the birds and the sound of the river in the valley as it flows over the rocks near the bridge.

We are now rated as the Number 1 B&B in the Poitiers area by users of Tripadvisor - something which we are very proud of, and a reputation which we intend to retain !

B&B and a Gite 

The Gite is newly refurbished to a high standard and includes a number of double rooms, luxury showers and a large living area which can easily accommodate you and your guests. The gite is set away from our main property to ensure you have your privacy and has it's own access to the road so you never need to worry about a car being in the way! 

The Ultimate Relaxation and Sightseeing Base

Whether you want to relax by the pool, on the terrace or walk down the road to the locally run French pub, it's up to you how you spend your time. For those who can't quite tear themselves away from the real world we offer free Wi-Fi Broadband at our property as well !

Accommodation detail

Our gite is built in newly refurbished outbuildings on our estate in France.  It has been renovated to a high specification and provides a wide range of accommodation facilities for our guests.

• We have 3 double bedrooms, 2 of which are large enough to take an extra single bed as well.  All of our rooms have wardrobe space.  One of the double rooms has it's own en-suite facilities which includes a luxury shower unit for those wanting to unwind.
• The living area in the property is large and stretches across most of the frontage of the Gite which looks down the hill towards the river and overlooks the pool.  The front of the gite opens out through double doors onto a terrace/patio area which is supplied with patio furniture for you to enjoy.
• The kitchen facilities are modern and include a gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher - everything you would expect to find in a new kitchen.
• We provide you with a BBQ and most of our guests spend many an evening sitting out with a bottle (or bottles!) of wine watching the sun set enjoying fine local food from the region.

About the location

There are many local attractions within a pleasant 1 hour drive of our accommodation in the heart of rural France and if you fancy travelling a little further afield the famous French regional city of La Rochelle is within 2 hours drive for a great day of sight-seeing on the Atlantic coast.

More locally we have the towns of Saint Savin which is just 5 minuets drive away with it's picturesque riverside location, church winding streets and shops. Saint Savin also boasts a number of good local restaurants serving traditional French cuisine for a reasonable price.

Just 10 minutes from us is the town of Chavigny with it's medieval church and castle set up above the main town as well as a thriving shopping shopping and eating area.

There are numerous options for entertaining a family with children in the area ranging from the exciting modern theme-park called Futuroscope to the famous bird of prey display that can be found in Chavigny.
There is so much to do here, though you may find that once you get here you don't really want to rush around and are very happy to walk into the village, sit outside the pub and have a drink, walk along the river (opposite) and just watch the world go by.

You're sure for a relaxing time in Antigny and we're more than happy to provide you with details of local activities in the area.  There are a range of local restaurants within a short drive of Antigny, and if you want dining on you doorstep the village pub and restaurant is within a 2 minute walk down the lane from the front gates of our estate.

Whatever you choose to do in the local area you can be assured you'll be spending your time in an Oasis of calm. The local villagers are welcoming of our guests so you can be assured of a warm reception wherever you go

Whether your interest is in relaxing in the French countryside, sampling the French culture and cuisine or visiting some of the local destinations the Vienne reason will win you over, just as it did us when we chose to move here.

How to get here

Getting here by Air

Ryanair operate services into and out of Poitiers airport located a 45 min drive away from us and with fares from just £32 per person return (including taxes!) there just isn't a cheaper way to get here. Once at the airport we would recommend you hire a car through National Car Rental and drive directly here, we can supply you with directions so you don't need to worry about getting lost.  The reason we suggest National Car Rental is because Hertz is the rental company suggested by Ryanair - meaning that when you get to Poitiers there is a huge queue at the Hertz desk, and no queue at National Car Rental.

Ryanair flights currently run leaving Stanstead at 15:15 every day and flight time is usually around one hour, arriving around 17:15 local time.

Getting Here By Car

Poitiers is a day's drive from the ports of Calais/Boulogne or from Caen (5-6 hours). Driving distance from the port of St Malo is around 230 miles

If you're looking for crossings from the UK we can reccomend the service provided by SpeedFerries.com - crossings from just £25 for a car each way.

Eurostar/TGV

You can take a direct Eurostar service from London or Ashford to Lille before joining the efficient TGV rail network which will speed you to Poitiers from Lille in just a few hours. You can then rent a car in Poitiers before heading out to us around 45 mins from central Poitiers.
