Newly restored 19th century farmhouse, Mas des Grand' Terres, on the edge of the village of Rognonas, just outside Avignon.  Fully en-suite, very comfortable, tastefully decorated and well equipped to provide an ideal base for visiting Avignon, St-Rémy, Arles and the wine producing areas of the Cotes du Rhone.

You can exclusively rent the whole house (4 bedrooms) or part of it as 2 bedroom apartment (Spring and Autumn only) as a self-catered holiday base.

Our 8000 square metres (2 acres) of garden includes a b 12m swimming pool, poolside kitchen and games area and quiet places to slip away and relax.  Visitors are welcome to help themselves in our organic vegetable garden.

Mas des Grand' Terres provides and ideal base for touring, for walkers and for cyclists as well as those who are looking for a relaxing holiday in the sun. We are just a 5 minute walk from the village with bakers, a small supermarkets, butcher, deli, bars and a restaurant.

We are based on site and are discreetly available to help out with advice about our area, places to visit, restaurant bookings etc. 

We also offer a short wine list of our favourite local wines, self-guided wine tasting guides to our favourite wine areas and, once a week, we offer to cook an evening meal.

 

Accommodation detail

4 bedroom, 19th century farmhouse has been completely renovated and suitable for groups of up to ten people.

• Bedrooms - 2 doubles and 2 twins, each with its own en suite bathroom.  All bedrooms have ample storage with wardrobe and chest of drawers.  The two twins are spacious enough to accommodate a third, folding bed for a child.  All beds have pure cotton bedlinen.  The doubles are antique sleigh style beds. Bath, hand and pool towels are provided.
• Kitchen - equipped to a high standard with dishwasher, microwave and plenty of crockery and glasses, an antique school sink and polished concrete worktops, modern lighting, antique tables and chairs.
• Living room - TV with DVD player - CD/radio stereo with selection of our own house mix CDs and connectivity for an iPod or MP3 player - Wifi internet access

Outside

In front of the house, there are two large shady outdoor dining areas, a charcoal barbecue and a fountain.

There is another dining area by the poolside for the use of guests, equipped with a gas barbecue, a refrigerator and lighting for evening use.

There are ample loungers and umbrellas and plenty of space in our garden to head off and find a quiet corner to read or snooze (and plenty of space for kids to run off their energy).

We have a supply of boules, bats and balls etc to keep families happy. We also have table tennis and table football by the pool.

About the location

Mas des Grand'Terres is on the edge of the village of Rognonas, 5kms south of Avignon - well place for visiting not only Avignon, but also St-Rémy-de-Provence (14km South), Les-Baux-de-Provence, Arles and the Camargue, the Luberon, the Pont-du-Gard and the wine regions of the southern Côtes du Rhône (including Chateauneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas).

We are less than an hour from the Mediterranean.

How to get here

There are many options for travelling to us:

• Ryanair flies to Nimes which is 40 mins away 
• Easyjet flies to Marseille which is 50 mins away
• Flybe flies to Avignon - (the airport is 15 minutes from us)
• During the summer there is a direct Eurostar service to Avignon from London - we are only 10 minutes from Avignon's TGV station.
• It is a simple drive to Avignon from the channel ports and takes about 10 hours.

Other	Directly in front of the house are two shady pergolas for outside dining.  Each is lit for evening use.  The larger pergola seats 12 comfortably and features an adjacent charcoal barbecue. Beside the 12m swimming pool is a spacious polside kitchen and games area, "The Tractor Shed", with gas barbecue and refrigerator, our famous pink-pong table, various other games and stereo system for playing music both beside and in the pool.  (Yes, the pol has underwater speakers!) Our 8000 square metre garden (2 acres) also features a boules court and several shady places to escape to and snooze or play.  There's goal posts for those who like to kick a ball about, a pergola with a double bed for napping / siestas and another pergola fitted out for sitting, that we call our "Apero Lounge" - an ideal place for a sundowner. Our organic vegetable patch is available for our guests to help themselves.
