Two beautiful, self-contained, self-catering cottages set in beautiful gardens with pool. A quiet location yet near to a number of small towns where traditional markets, boulangeries and restaurants can be found.

Les Jardins des Arts also offers an opportunity for anyone wishing to practice their painting skills with resident artist Ray Shuell.

About the location

Les Jardins des Arts is situated in the quiet hamlet of Hanc, an area well known for its good weather and for its peace and tranquility. However, within a short distance you will find many small towns with their market days, restaurants and shops. In addition, a little further afield there are much larger towns to be found, such as Angouleme, Niort, Poitiers and on the coast, La Rochelle, where a wide variety of shops can be found together with all the facilities one would expect.

The area also holds many attractions such as the Marais Poitevin, or 'Green Venice', a dense maze of canals dotted with poplar and ash, waterlilies and irises.  There are golf courses,  fishing lakes and zoos, all within a short drive of the property.

The area is also ideal cycling and walking country being criss-crossed with numerous quiet lanes and tracks.

How to get here

• Quite easy to find, Hanc is situated around 45km south west of Poitiers, off the N10. It is about a seven hour drive from Calais.
• There are airports at Poitiers and Angouleme (1 hour drive) and Limoges (one and a half hours).
• The TGV from Paris - which can be reached by train from the UK - takes around two and a half hours.
