Home description

This five bedroom traditional farmhouse is situated in a quiet hamlet which used to be a collection of buildings forming a monastery. Our guests have exclusive use of our new 10m x 5m swimming pool and large garden. The children have their own space in the house where we have a studio with a large games room with snooker table, table football, games and books. 

The surrounding area is mostly agricultural with sunflower fields and expanses of open countryside. The area enjoys hot summers and mild winters. Close by are golf courses, horse riding, lakes with beaches for swimming and a river for canoeing and fishing. The quiet location makes it ideal for cycling in the country lanes.

We have been spending our holidays in France for many years - in the mountains and on the west coast of France to placate 2 boys who enjoy their sporting activities. Based on our holidays in different types of accommodation and having a large ski apartment, which we rent, we believe we know what facilities and a comfort a family requires for their holidays.

• 3 double bedrooms with 2 Kingsize beds and one bedroom with ensuite bath / shower

• Kitchen - fully equipped farmhouse kitchen with large farmhouse table, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave hob, cooker and oven
• Utility room with washing machine, dryer, ironing facilities, and drinks fridge
• Dining area inside and outside
• Lounge with satellite tv and wifi (office facilities and external wifi planned for 2010) 
• Studio/mezzanine with football table , snooker / pool table and board games and a large selection of children's and adult books.

About the location

La Sauvanie is situated in a quiet hamlet 3kms from Verteillac, a bustling village that serves the local community with a supermarket, bank, post office, hotel / restaurant, butchers, boulangerie and a number of bars. There are a number of good restaurants in the surrounding area.

Riberac is 15 minutes away and besides the popular market has a Tourist Office and large supermarkets. Angouleme, capital of Charante is 30 minutes in distance and Perigueux, capital of Dordogne is 40 minutes. Both have restaurants and bars in their old city quarters. Royan on the Atlantic coast is 2 hours away.

Also in the region and close by are National Park woodland with pleasant walks. There are also historic chateaux and market towns. 

Also of importance is that Ryanair start flying to Angouleme from 1st April 2008 which is just 35 mins away.

How to get here

La Sauvanie is off the quiet road between La Rochebeaucourt and Verteillac. 

Angouleme served by the GTV is 30 minutes away.

The local airports are Bergerac (60mins), Bordeaux, (90mins) and Limoges (100mins).  Taxis and car hire available from the airports. 

Approximately 8 hours drive from Calais via Rouen by motorway.
