'Les Beaux Terroirs' is a collection of cottages and apartments, recently converted from 300 year-old buildings on the edge of a village surrounded by the Rhone vineyards of Southern France. With a brand new swimming pool and mature gardens, it's a perfect spot for a break any time of the year.

Gigondas is the big cottage, sleeping 8-10 in loads of space.  Lirac, the former master's house, sleeps 4-6 with a top floor bedroom with private South facing roof terrace. Chateauneuf du Pape and Cote Rotie are apartments, each sleeping 2-4. Book one place on its own, or team up with friends/family and book more.

Lirac is a three storey beautiful house with its own private terrace and an upstairs roof terrace.

• Second floor double bedroom - large double bedroom with space for another single bed.  Private terrace with views over the valley and sunset.
• First floor bedroom - twin beds that can become a double, plus a bunk bed for two.
• First floor bathroom - wc, bath and separate shower cubicle
• Large open-plan living/dining/kitchen area. There are two comfy sofas in the living room area, plus a TV, DVD player and hifi. The kitchen is equipped with  a large kitchen table, top-notch SMEG appliances, featuring a 4-ring gas hob, gas oven and dishwasher.
• Outdoor terrace - Lirac has its own private terrace area outside the house - perfect for barbecues!

• Shares the large gardens and pool with the other 3 gites. 
• Help yourself to fruit and veg from the garden
• Communal barbecues

Guests in Lirac share access to our laundry room with guests from the other apartments. There you will find a large washing machine, tumble drier, iron and ironing board.

• Uzes - beautiful market town about 30 mins away, founded by the Duche d'Uzes in the 12th century - don't miss the Saturday morning market.
• Haribo Sweets Museum - just South of Uzes - a must-see for any families with younger kiddies, the famous old Haribo sweets factory has an excellent museum/shop.
• Avignon - one of France's great artistic and cultural cities (with its month-long culturefest in August), it used to be home to the popes (see their massive papal palace by the river) and has the half-finished bridge that gave rise to the famous 'Sur le pont d'Avignon...' song.
• Aven d'Orgnac - some of Europe's most spectacular caves and easily accessible for family visits - just 30 mins from us.
• Gorges de la Ceze - baby brother to the nearby Ardeche Gorges, they're just up the road from 'Les Beaux Terroirs' and offer some lovely walks, pools and peaceful canoeing.
• Gorges de l'Ardeche - one of France's 'Big 3' gorges, this spectacular series of canyons offers beautiful spots for river-swimming, some sensational viewpoints and fantastic kayaking and canoeing.
• La Chartreuse de Valbonne - a stunning 13th century cloistered monastery, about 30 mins drive from us.
• Goudargues - the 'Venice of the Gard' with its canals and cafes/restaurants lining their banks.
• La Roque-sur-Ceze & Cascades de Sautadet - medieval cliff-hanging village of La Roque overlooking the beautiful Sautadet waterfalls - another lovely river swimming spot on the Ceze.
• Cornillon - clifftop village above St Andre with wonderful views across the whole Ceze valley to the South.
• Orange - visit the Roman arena at the centre of this beautiful ancient town.
• Nimes - another Roman arena in Nimes, 1 hr south of St Andre; also get here in June for the Feria - 4 days and nights of festival and party...
• Isle-sur-Sorgue - visit the famous market - wonderful foods and all sorts of antiques.

How to get here

By Air

We are just 1 hr from Nimes Airport, with its low-cost Ryanair flights from London Luton, Liverpool, Nottingham East Midlands and Brussels Charleroi. And it's less than an hour from Avignon Airport, where Flybe launched a new service from Southampton in 2006.

We're approx 1 hr 30 min from both Montpellier and Marseille Airports (direct flights from England/Wales/Scotland/Ireland and the rest of Europe), 2 hrs from Lyon and St Etienne and 2 hr 30 from Toulon (all with direct flights from across UK/Ireland and rest of Europe).

It's then an easy drive up to St Andre - a combination of autoroute (motorway) and wide, well-maintained national/regional roads. 

• From Nimes or Montpellier airport, get onto the A9 twds Lyon, get off at the Remoulins exit, follow signs twds Pont du Gard, then Bagnols-sur-Ceze, go thro' Bagnols in direction of Pont St Esprit, before turning left into the D980 on the way out of the town.  See below for remainder of directions.
• From Avignon airport, follow the signs for Nimes, then Bagnols-sur-Ceze. See above/below for remainder.
• From Marseille or Toulon airport, stay on the A7 (direction Lyon) until the Orange-Centre turnoff (not Orange-Sud). After the toll barrier, go almost 360 degrees around the roundabout and take the turning signposted twds Caderousse. Once at Caderousse, follow the signs to Bagnols-sur-Ceze. By Road

Access is easy - we're just 30 mins' drive from the main north-south A7 autoroute at Bollene. Bollene is approx 6 hours' drive from Paris and 8-9 hrs from Calais, Brussels or Frankfurt. We've got plenty of private parking at 'Les Beaux Terroirs'.

From the A7 exit at Bollene, follow signposts to Pont St Esprit and then Bagnols-sur-Ceze. Just before you reach Bagnols, turn right onto the D980 -direction St Gervais, Barjac, Goudargues.

About 15km along the D980, you'll see a right-turn signposted to St Andre de Roquepertuis, just by the Cave Co-operative. Take this turning and drive up to the village. 

By Train

We're just 45 mins drive from Avignon TGV station, which is just 2 hrs 30 from Paris and 4 hrs 10 mins from Lille by TGV train. Hire cars are available for pick-up at Avignon TGV. From Avignon, follow the signs for Nimes, then Bagnols-sur-Ceze. See above for remaining directions.
