Cravate aux Papillons is a modern villa standing in its own grounds of 2 hectares (approximately 5 acres).
The villa faces south and, from its hillside position, enjoys a panoramic view over the Massif des Maures with Grimaud and its medieval castle clearly visible in the middle distance. There are a couple of neighbouring properties but both are some way off and well out of sight and do not overlook either the house or the pool.
Accessible from the sitting room and kitchen is a large terraced area providing plenty of protection from the sun and ideal for eating al fresco. Around the property is a small garden with lawn and flowering shrubs. The swimming pool is situated a little below the villa, is a good size (12m x 6m) and enjoys the same views. There are Roman steps to enter the pool at the shallow end. Beyond the pool are terraced vineyards belonging to the property. There is a large garage at the rear.
There is a house book in the villa which provides extensive information about the property and neighbourhood.
The villa offers comfortable accommodation and modern facilities.
There is one double bedroom with ensuite bathroom and separate WC, and two twin bedrooms with en suite showers and WCs. All rooms have mosquito netting or blinds. The sitting room contains two sofas and a couple of arm chairs. There is a TV and a CD radio/cassette player.
Next door is the kitchen, large enough for eating in if necessary, containing a cooker and hobs, large fridge, microwave oven, electric kettle and toaster, dishwasher and washing machine. The tumble drier is in the garage. There is also a separate cloakroom.
A telephone is available on payment of a deposit.
There is no barbecue due to the very real risk of fire. Police fines for ignoring this rule are heavy.
It is situated about 2.5 kilometres from La Garde Freinet, 15 kilometres from St. Tropez and 10 kilometres from Port
While Port Grimaud is a modern Venice there are many old and historic villages to visit. St. Tropez is the biggest attraction in the area, a showcase for the rich and famous and yet retaining its fishing village identity. For children, there is a large fun fair just outside St. Tropez offering carousels to bungee jumping. Visiting the Grand Canyon du Verdon is a good day out for all. As this is France, there is always a huge choice of bars and restaurants to suit all pockets. A little research or exploration can be immensely rewarding.
La Garde Freinet itself is an old and most attractive village with a good range of shops, including a post office, chemist and doctor's surgery. It, like most other villages in the region, has an open market in the square every week.

A car is essential. Hiring one is simple at either Nice or Marseilles airports from most major providers (Hertz, Avis etc).
