Charming House in Open Countryside
The house, Trouilladis, is situated in open countryside, with attractive views over fields on all sides. These fields are actively farmed with a succession of crops - sunflowers, maize, tomatoes, peppers, strawberries and other market garden produce. The back garden, laid down to grass and fruit trees, extends to about a quarter of an acre.
We have owned our "Home in the Sun" since 1988. Our locally based Agent looks after the house for us all year round. Hire of extras such as bed linen, cots, etc., can be arranged direct with him.
The patio faces west. When we return from our regular visits we remember the magic of sitting on the patio and watching the sun setting over the distant trees - in a landscape reminiscent of Manet - with the silence of the warm evening air broken only by the chirping of the crickets and the occasional croak of a frog in the nearby ponds.
The house is sufficiently far away from the nearest town (Miramont) for there to be no "light pollution" - so, on a clear night, the display of stars is spectacular.
Holiday Accommodation at Trouilladis
The house was skilfully enlarged by its previous French owners and recently we have carried out a complete refurbishment of the interior and also the exterior.

About Peyriere in Lot-et-Garonne, Aquitaine
Location
- 4 kms south of Miramont-de-Guyenne
- 40 kms south of Bergerac,
- 18 kms north of Marmande
The nearest town, Miramont, provides all the usual amenities including 3 supermarkets and a good variety of other shops and restaurants. There is a public open-air swimming pool. In the centre of the town is a well-stocked Tourist Office.
To the north is the River Dordogne which meanders between its many Châteaux, the scene of so much bitter fighting between the English and the French in the Hundred Years War. In the valley of the River Vezere, a tributary of the River Dordogne, is Les Eyzies, the centre of pre-history, where caves carved out of the solid rock were used by early Man as dwelling-places; with magnificent cave-paintings at nearby Lascaux.
Nearby are the beautifully-preserved "bastides" (fortified towns) of Eymet and Monpazier.
To the south is the valley of the River Lot, whose quiet villages seem not to have changed for centuries.
The town of Bergerac presents a fascinating contrast between a bustling commercial centre and the old town (guided tours in English available) with its many old buildings, including the Tobacco Museum and Maison du Vin - not forgetting the statue of the legendary Cyrano. In the summer there are open air jazz concerts in the cloisters of the Maison du Vin.
Locally there are many excellent and reasonably priced restaurants of which we can supply a list. Our favourite, just down the road in Seyches, does an excellent 12 euro lunch (including wine). The local wines are Cotes de Duras and Cotes du Marmandais.
Within comfortable driving distance there are the world famous vineyards of the Bordeaux region-St. Emilion, Bergerac, Monbazillac and Entre Deux Mers (with wine-growers' co-operative at Sauveterre-de-Guyenne).
