Home description

The house is in the center of town, within the protected and pedestrian area. The street has just recently been beautifully redone by the Town, and all the formerly overhead wires are now underground.

Access by automobile is permitted only for loading and unloading. We have an underground parking space just a short distance away.

The house is comfortable, cosy and warm in winter with modern central heating and a beautiful fireplace. It is self contained on three levels (four if you include the attic and roof terrace). It was renovated about twelve years ago to American standards of comfort, yet it maintains the charm of its centuries old stone construction.

• Kitchen / dining room - a modern kitchen with all the conveniences and dining area. Off the kitchen is a completely enclosed terrace.

About the location

Our house is located on a quiet pedestrian street in the heart of the town of Uzès, two minutes' walk from Place aux Herbes and close to all the shops and restaurents. Uzès is well within an hour's drive from Avignon, Nimes, Arles, Pont du Gard and many other sites in Provence. It is also about an hour and a half's drive to the nearest beach. We have an underground parking space in a garage complex located within a three minutes' walk from the house, but a car is not at all necessary as all amenities are close at hand.

How to get here

If you arrive by car, you will most likely enter Uzès by the road Route de Nimes (D981), also called Boulevard Maréchal Foch, Upon reaching the center of town, take a right turn onto Boulevard Victor Hugo, and there is public parking at Le Portelet in about  200 meters on the left .

The nearest airport is Nimes, serviced by Ryan Air. Other international airports are Marseilles, Montpellier and Lyon, where cars can be rented. We no longer drive, so we usually fly to Paris, and take the rapid train (TGV) directly from Charles de Gaulle Airport  to Avignon or Nimes, and then taxi to Uzès.
