A totally self contained one bedroomed spacious cottage built on two levels. This ancient miller's house is from the XVII century charming and filled with the original character, terre cuite floors, elegant stone fireplace sits proudly in the middle of the salon. Beamed ceilings. Well equipped kitchen looking on to the river and swathed in light. A stone staircase leads up to the Master Suite. A double bedroom again steeped in character with en-suite bathroom with partly sunken bath - the sun streams in as you listen the river running by.

Ground Floor:

• Kitchen - open kitchen fully equipped (except dishwasher), oven, fridge, kettle
• Living room and dining room

First Floor:

• One large bedroom for two persons with wonderful little windows opening on to the river below.
• Bath and shower room.

Outside:

• Large charming garden, swimming pool. Private terrace next to the river, bikes available.

About the location

The medieval Duchy of Uzès labyrinth of cobbled streets steeped in character is 5 minutes by car.

This is not just a place to choose from an amazing selection of olives, spit roasted chickens, or infinite varieties of goat's cheese. Tables piled with vintage handwork and lace, candle makers beckon you to smell their waxy products. Happily you purchase olive soap from Marseille, packets of Herbes de Provence, and soft tisane - of compelling comfort for when winter winds howl back home. A local melon, sun swollen ripe tomatoes, finely shaven bits of ham carved by the butcher, and a bottle of local Costiere de Nimes Your choices are limitless.

Sit in one of the many street cafes to savour the atmosphere and perhaps a dozen oysters washed down with a chilled white wine. 

The ancient city of Nimes with its numerous restaurants, cobbled alley ways, antique shops and historic arena is a 10 minute drive through the vineyards and olive groves.

The marvellous city of Avignon is 35 minute away: The Palais de Pape, the theatre, (the well known festival is in july) and provencal shops will seduce you.

An area destined to delight those seeking the pleasures of Provençal fare, spectacular scenery, browsing the numerous brocante and antique shops and immersing themselves in the historic culture.
