12th Century Village house in the Drome Provencal with 21st Century comforts. Totally renovated in 2006 the house features air conditioning and heat, a new kitchen and bathrooms. The layout is ideal for families or two couples.

The house is located in the historic center village and is within walking distance to several restaurants, cafes and a cinema. There is a nice lakefront beach with playground and cafe only 3 km from the house. The house is located in a market town and you can enjoy market every Friday only steps from the front door. The Grand Rue has many shops including a chocolatier, boucherie, boulangerie, librarie, etc.

Enjoy everything that Provence and Lanquedoc have to offer from this ideally situated house.

This is a traditional 3 story Village house and is laid out as follows:

Ground floor:  Main entrance opens into a foyer which has a corner cabinet full of books for your reading enjoyment. opposite the front entrance is an area that holds the cleaning supplies and a washing machine, iron and iron board.  To the right off the foyer is a bedroom with a queen size bed fitted with fine linens. A large armoire will accommodate hanging clothes and has 2 draws for folded clothes. Opposite the bedroom across the foyer is a large luxurious bathroom with a large soaking tub, toilet etc.

First floor: Up wide wooden spiral stairs with ornate, decorative iron work to the main salon and kitchen. The kitchen is new in 2006 with a glass top stove, oven and refigerator/freezer. A large window looks out south and lets lots of light in. The kitchen is completely supplied with all cooking utensils, china and of course, wine glasses. The main salon has a comfortable sofa bed, the best on the market,.that opens to 2 single beds. there is a table and chairs for games, satellite T.V., DVD  with an extensive DVD library and internet wi-fi access.(bring your laptop).

Third floor: Up another set of stairs to the other bedroom that features a queen size bed and ensuite bathroom. There is a large armoire, a dresser with large mirror and another refrigerator to keep close a supply of wine and cheese. The ensuite bathroom has a shower, sink and toilet.

Across from the bedroom is the doorway to the south facing terrace. The terrace has a large table and 6 chairs and large umbrella. 2 chaises are tucked away for those who like to sunbathe.

About the location

The house is located in Pierrelatte, a lively market village , located in the Drome Provencal with 12,000 inhabitants.  In the village there are several restaurants and a Grand Rue with all the shops, butchers, bakers, groceries, general stores, and chocolatier and of course the traditional French  bar cafes necessary for an enjoyable, easy visit.

There is swimming at a lovely beach that is less than 3 km from the house. The beach has a playground for children and a nice café. You can watch the windsurfers on the opposite side of the beach. Guests can also use the village swimming pool and tennis court. Market day is every Friday and occurs just steps from the front door.  Local produce, cheeses, meats, and flowers can be purchased, as well as fresh seafood and herbs. In summer, lavender sweetens the air, and cherry and fig trees produce edible delicacies.

Since everything is within walking distance, you can explore the village at your own pace. The south of France is well known for its pastries and breads; visitors can taste many of them in the local patisserie and enjoy a pastis or a traditional meal at one of the several restaurants and bars in the village. This village even has a cinema, a short walk from the house, which occasionally shows English language movies. Pierrelatte’s central location provides easy access to some of the most historic, scenic, and often-visited sites in southern France.
