Peaceful, traditional and comfortable rural accommodation part of our cherished 18th Century Longere. Sleeping up to four adults, ideally suited to couples looking for a quiet restfully holiday. Located 2km from River Vilaine. Wonderful cycling & walking.

About the location

Immediate welcome the minute you start your holiday. If desired drive no further just amble to the marsh lakes 10mns to the rear of the property where numerous wildlife & birds can be spotted. Picnic table &  seating situated around the lake for your enjoyment.

Besle on the River Vilaine is a 10mn cycle where you can find general store, pharmacy, & doctors. Our favourite restaurant and bar on the River allows for a lazy day of exceptionally good food & wine. Perhaps a further cycle or walk along the towpaths for the more active.

Nearest larger towns:

Guemene Penfao (15 mns drive) - here you will find two very good supermarkets- Super U with an excellent fish counter and the competitive familiar Lidel. Friday mornings finds the town host to the bustling weekly market. The local "Syndicat d`initiative" will hire out canoes for a "paddle" along the River Don and has plenty of information of local activities.

Redon (20mns) - until World War 1 was the seaport for Rennes. Shipowners houses from the 17th & 18th Century can be seen along the quay adding to the ambiance of this lovely town. The main users of the Port now are cruise ships leading down the Vilaine to  LA  ROCHE Bernard another very delightful medieval town, the focus of which is its busy Port. Redon is well worth a visit a wonderful grouping of water & locks its a town with history charm and life.

Loheac (20mns) - houses the largest motor museum in France with over 300 vehicles from 19th Century - modern day Formula One racing cars. The French National Rally-Cross Championships are held here & there is a driving school where for reasonable fees one can take instruction in saloon car & go-kart racing. The village centre has lovely period bars creperies & restaurants.

La Gacilly, La Guerande, Rochefort En Terre (25-45mns) - all of these are very pretty and enable you to view local Artisans producing various crafts which make lovely gifts to take home. At La Gacilly you can hire out a pleasure boat to cruise along the River and take in the beauty of the water ways and banks.

Man made beaches can easily be reached within 15-20 mns at Plesse & Fegreac allowing you to enjoy windsurfing activities , swimming & sunbathing. Further afield 45-1 hr drive beaches ranging from Pennestin famous for its moules is very beautiful with cliffs of sand and rock pools. La Baule very cosmopolitan beach known as the "St Tropez" of the North. If you prefer a quiet family beach Batz Sur Mer at Le Croisic on the Cote Sauvage is ideal for a siesta after an appetising lunch at one of the numerous fish restaurants.
