Perched on a hillside, this spacious Basque farmhouse enjoys a secluded position with no neighbours yet is only 10 minutes drive from the market town of St Palais with its array of shops and restaurants. 

Recently renovated, the farmhouse offers the comforts of a modern home, whilst retaining much of its original character. 

There is plenty to do in both the surrounding area and further afield as the house is situated just above the Compostelle de St Jacques so there is good walking and cycling close by. The coast and moutains can be reached in around 45 minutes. Alternatively, if you just want to relax, there is an outside seating area and garden.

The farmhouse is a lovely old property dating from the 17th century, and it will easily accomodate 10 people.  Outside there is a terrace and garden and the River Nive runs along the foot of the hill.

Ground floor

Large, open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting area - a truly enormous room with wood-burning stove and access to front and back gardens. There is also a 'snug' leading off this room with another wood burning stove and a sofa-bed.

About the location

The farmhouse is situated a few kilometres away from the market town of St Palais, which has a good array of shops, including a bakery, pharmacy, a post office, bank and tobacconist.  There are several good restaurants and a couple of bars, and the museum of Navarre life is in the centre of town.  In addition there is a public swimming pool and market, along with regular festivals and fetes.

How to get here

• The house is a similar distance from Biarritz or Pau airport; around 45 minutes and 1 hour respectively
• Additionally it is possible to fly to Bordeaux and drive (around 2 hours)
• From Pau, west along the A64, then south-west on the D933
• From Biarritz, east along the A64, then south east on the D11
• There are train stations in Biarritz and Pau
