The house, A la Française, has recently been renovated and brought up to date without loosing its old Burgundy character of beamed ceilings and red tiled floors.

Entering the house from the front courtyard you step into the lounge and dining room both with fire places, off the dining room is the modern kitchen and the back door which leads to the garden and parking area. Stairs from the lounge take you to the bedrooms and bathroom.

The furniture in the rooms comprise:

Ground floor

• Kitchen -  electric oven/gas hob, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, coffee machine, toaster, kettle and  iron/ironing board.
• Dining room - table with 5 chairs, sideboard, bar with stools, glass fronted fire place
• Separate toilet
• Lounge - 3 seater sofa, 2 arm chairs, 2 coffee tables, TV/DVD player, library with books and games, open fire place with guard.

First floor

• Bedroom 1 - double bed, 2 bedside tables, chest of drawers, wardrobe and 2 chairs.
• Bedroom 2 - 3 single beds /1double and 1 single, 2 bedside tables, wardrobe, chest of drawers and 2 chairs.
• Bathroom - shower with toilet
• Separate toilet

 

Cot and highchair are available when required, garden furniture, barbecue.

About the location

Roffey a small village in the northern part of Burgundy close to the southern border of Champagne is well placed for experiencing the riches these two regions have to offer.  For example visit St. Florentin, a town with a beautiful renaissance church, the 12th century Cistercian Abbey of Pontigny, the vineyards of Chablis, the renaissance chateaux of Tanlay and Ancy le Franc, Tonnerre, a very old town with buildings from many eras including a hospice and Roman bath all within 20 minutes drive.

In less than an hours drive you can visit the medieval cities of Troyes and Auxerre, The forge of Buffon and the Cistercian Abbey of Fontenay, Sens with the first Gothic cathedral in France and in 1h 30 Dijon, Beaune, Fontainebleau, Vaux le Vicomte, St Fargeau, Vezelay and many more of Frances treasures can be reached.

10 minutes walk from Roffey you will find the famous Burgundy canal ideal for an afternoon stroll, or bike ride into the villages that are near by.

For restaurants and shops Tonnerre, Chablis, Auxerre, Ancy le Franc, St Florentin can offer a wide choice and a local market every day at a town close by.

How to get here

From Calais take the A26 / E17 direction Reims, continue along towards Troyes on the A5, take exit N°21,  at the roundabout take the 4th exit continue along then take slip road on your right signposted Tonnerre, Chaource. At the stop turn left onto the D444 towards Tonnerre, arriving in Tonnerre at the first roundabout take the 1st exit direction St Florentine. At the second roundabout go straight across direction St Florentine D905. At the village of Tronchoy take the last turning on your left signposted Roffey (just before you leave the village)
