The general style of the apartment is light, airy and spacious, with pine cladding and pine furniture, set off by the large windows. Some windows have fly screens fitted, so it is possible to enjoy summer breezes but still be fly free!

The apartment is split level and accessed via a private staircase leading from the rear of the barn area, but as the barn is built into a hill the rear of the apartment has a patio/garden area at ground level!

A lobby leads to the bedrooms and bathroom, two wide stairs lead through glass doors to the main living area, which comprises of an open plan corner kitchen with breakfast bar and dining area set next to large windows, giving wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. There is comfortable seating grouped round a coffee table and a corner TV area. Glass doors lead out to the patio area.

About the location

The Old Stone Barn is located half way up a hill in a quiet hamlet. All around are small family farms, which make the Franche-Comté cheese. In summer we have cows in the fields all around and behind our barn we have calves. The sound of the cow bells will stay with you long after you have left. The countryside is hilly and we have some wonderful views from the barn.

5km away is the listed spa town of Salins les Bains (it is more like a large village by English standards). Salins is nestled deep in the valley known as 'Nature Valley' and high on a hillside either side of the valley is a fort, used in the past to guard the town's precious salt. Running parallel to a small river is the main street with all the usual amenities, banks, post office, bakers, tea salons and several different eating places, from simple pizza to posh French fare....... There are two small supermarkets one each end of the town.

We are about 50km from several larger towns that are well worth a visit, Besançon, Lons le Saunier, Dole and Pontarlier. The Swiss border is within a hour and Geneva is 100km. The area has many natural beauty sites with caves, waterfalls, rivers, and lakes. Truly an area worth a visit.
