This lovely west facing stone cottage is on the edge of a small village with a shop and bar. The sunset views from the front garden are superb. At the rear is a covered patio with plenty of dining space. There is a barbecue and fridge for keeping the wine and beer chilled. The rest of the secluded garden is terraced with wonderful views, there are plenty of sunbathing facilities.  

The Morvan offers so much for everyone, there's walking, white water rafting, quad biking, paintballing and mountain biking on the excellent marked trails.

In addition there is a wealth of history to explore in all the beautiful towns and cities in the home of the Dukes of Burgundy.

This typical Morvan cottage with wood ceilings and a tommette floor is on the edge of a small village.

Ground floor

• Kitchen / sitting room - the corner kitchen has a gas hob, electric oven, fridge freezer, microwave and washing machine and is very well equiped. The sitting room has a wood burner, plenty of comfortable seating and all entertainment needs including TV, DVD,CD and video. 
• Dining room - complete with a well stocked bookcase.
• Bedroom 1 - a pretty double bedroom with hanging space and shelves making it ideal for someone with restricted mobility.
• Shower room - with shower, wash basin and toilet

First floor

Outside are typical Morvan stairs leading up to further bedrooms. 

• Bedroom 2 - with beautiful exposed beams has 1 double bed and 1 single bed and there is plenty of wardrobe space. 
• Bedroom 3 - also with beams, has 1 king size bed, hanging space and shelves. There is an en suite bathroom with bath, WC and wash basin. 

About the location

The cottage is situated in the Morvan Natural Parc, this vast area is a paradise for walkers, cyclists and all lovers of natural beauty and the great outdoors. It is very similar to the Lakes but without all the traffic! There a many lakes which quite often you could have all to yourself. There are two big lakes where you can sail and enjoy more commercial pleasures.

In the area are 2 Michelin 3 star restaurants as well as many local auberges. The village which is partly named after the famous Marshal Vauban who was born in the village has a musuem dedicated to his life and also has a small shop/post office with a depot de pain, perfect for your breakfast croissants. There is also a local bar, worth a visit !!

In a nearby village which can be seen across the valley (one of the fabulous views) there is a twice weekly market as well as butcher, boulangerie and patissiere and famous chocolate shop. There are 2 small supermarkets and 2 bars as well as good resturants for all tastes. 

Avallon, the nearest town, is 20 mins away and has everything you might need in the large supermarket from fresh produce to freezers to fishing bait. The old town is beautiful with ramparts which look over the gorge, pavement cafes and interesting little shops. It has a large market on Saturdays.

Auxerre and Dijon are great for big city visits and there are a wealth of chateaux, churches and museums. Nearby Vezelay is a must to visit, a truly mystical hilltop town with a wonderful basilica and a history to match.

How to get here

St Leger Vauban is situated 20 mins from junction 22 on the A6.  2 hours south of Paris, easy for a trip to Disneyland Paris. 5 hours from Calais. 2 hours north of Lyon.

We are 45 mins from the TGV station at Montbard. 3 hours from Paris Charles De Gaulle airport and 3 hours from Geneva airport
