About Joyeuse in Ardèche, Rhone Alps

The property is set high in the hills above the valley of the river Baume, in the stunning Ardèche region of Southern France.

Just 20 minutes away are the spectacular Ardèche gorges, with its canoeing, walking and other tourist activities.

A couple of kilometres away is the town of Joyeuse, named after King Charlemagne's personal sword. The name translates as "joyful". It is alleged that the Joyeuse sword was lost in battle, and retreived by one of the Knights of Charlemagne; to thank him the King granted him some land named Joyeuse.

By car: Take the Bollène exit from the A7 motorway, and follow the signs to the Gorges d'Ardeche. Then lookout for Rosieres.
