An enchanting and unusual 200 year old townhouse under the ramparts of a medieval city. A wonderful location for a lazy French break, or a base to explore the countryside and towns of the Pas de Calais and Picardy.

Accommodation detail

The house is very quaint, tall and thin with a room on each floor, connected by an amazing wooden spiral staircase.

Ground floor

A door leads out into a charming walled courtyard garden with grapevine, wisteria and white hydrangea bushes. The garden is beautifully lit at night.

About the location

The property is situated just outside the ramparts of Montreuil, a few minutes walk into the town. Wonderful local restaurants including two Michelin-star establishments, interesting modern bistros and cosy cafes. Market day is Saturday. There is a very good cheese shop in the main square and more than one tempting chocolate shop. Local hardware stores and  food shops mix with antique shops and gift boutiques to make a balanced mixture of real town life and goodies for tourists.

How to get here

Montreuil is 40 minutes from Eurotunnel and the Calais port;  about 25 from Boulogne. There is an airport in Le Touquet with a service from Brighton. Montreuil has a station with links to Arras and to Paris.
