Home description
An enchanting and unusual 200 year old townhouse under the ramparts of a medieval city. A wonderful location for a lazy French break, or a base to explore the countryside and towns of the Pas de Calais and Picardy.

The house is very quaint, tall and thin with a room on each floor, connected by an amazing wooden spiral staircase.
Ground floor
- Living area with a compact corner kitchen, and a huge inglenook fireplace, decorated with with local blue and white tiles. There are comfortable armchairs and a small dining area with seating for four. The wall here features the local chalkstone blocks and flint.
A door leads out into a charming walled courtyard garden with grapevine, wisteria and white hydrangea bushes. The garden is beautifully lit at night.
Second floor
- Good sized sunny bathroom with bathtub and shower.
- Twin bed guest room with Victorian style white bedsteads and a pretty blue-tiled fireplace.
Top floor
- Very romantic double bedroom taking up the whole upper floor space. It is lit with four circular windows.

About the location
The property is situated just outside the ramparts of Montreuil, a few minutes walk into the town. Wonderful local restaurants including two Michelin-star establishments, interesting modern bistros and cosy cafes. Market day is Saturday. There is a very good cheese shop in the main square and more than one tempting chocolate shop. Local hardware stores and food shops mix with antique shops and gift boutiques to make a balanced mixture of real town life and goodies for tourists.
