A Charming & Unique Riverside House Offering Comfortable Bed & Breakfast (3 rooms and 2 flats - sleeps 14)

A charming and unique riverside house with 5 letting rooms some with river views in the ancient and medieval town of Malestroit. We also have a self contained garden apartment that can sleep up to 8 comfortably.

Evening meals and lunches available on request . We can also do a packed lunch for your day out.

Fishing from our own river bank

We can also offer transfers from airports and ferry terminals at a resonable price

Very established Chambres d'hôtes having been run now for 7 years (2010).

Bed & Breakfast Accommodation at Riverside Room

Certainly the best room in the house, this beautifully decorated Riverside room can accommodate a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children.

  • It has a king-size bed set in a tastefully wooden cladded area with a large velux for night-sky views. There is also a wardrobe and relaxing chairs, plus two window seats. This extremely spacious and airy room, is perfect for relaxing in and gazing out over the beautiful River l'oust day or night.
  • Extra Childrens beds can be supplied.
  • Full Ensuite with corner bath and mixer shower, toilet, sink and bidet.

About Malestroit in Morbihan, Brittany

Why do we recommend stopping here?

A very nice stop in a natural setting, near the village and with a picnic area and playground for children

What is there to see?

You arrive in a region with a rich history. Malestroit was one on the 9th "baronnies" of independant Brittany and the town has kept its sumptuous period of nice monuments and in particular the most humble, these famous houses with timber framing that you can still admire in the old town. Very nice little town on the edge of the Canal

What can I visit?

The Church St Gilles from 12th century and 16th centuries is classified as an historic monument. Don't miss the guided tour of Malestroit and the guided visits in the evening at 9pm - enquiries on tel:+ 33 (0)2 97 75 14 57.

Is there a market day?

On Thursdays mornings - there is also a fair the first Thursday of the month.

Is there a golf course here or nearby?

Yes just outside Ploermel alongside the Lake (Lac au Duc)

Are there any museums near here?

  • Water and Fishing Museum Iktus (tel: + 33 (0)2 97 75 26 50) at the lock of Malestroit. Opens from May to October only during the weekend and bank holidays and from 15th June to end of September every afternoon
  • The Museum of Breton Resistance (3 kms) tel: + 33 (0)2 97 75 16 90. Opens from 15th June to 15th September from 10am-7pm and from 16th September to 14th June from 10am to 12 and from 2pm-6pm, closed on Tuesdays out of the season.
  • Aquarium/exhibition/museum at the Water Museum - free of charge - opens from 2pm-7pm

How To Get To Malestroit in Morbihan, North West France

The nearest Airport is Rennes. Dinard airport is 75km away (1.25 hour drive) as is St Malo (just a bit further on).

The property is situated alongside the Nantes Brest Canal, of which about 100 yards of riverbank makes up the edge of my garden.

There is a new kiddies park within 200 yards, a football pitch and small stadium, tennis courts and a Bouledrome. You can fish the river from the garden and there is a canoe centre 400 yards away.

The river is the real gem, which you can walk and cycle along at your leisure and visit nearby riverside villages along it.
