Home description

Au Bourg is a beautiful, family-friendly farmhouse. Built in the traditional Gascon style and lovingly refurbished and furnished, it is the ideal place for a perfect, relaxing holiday. Located in a peaceful village, Au Bourg has extensive facilities which will make moving away from it difficult, but should you choose to do so, the quaint market town of Maubourguet is close by, as well as the Madiran and St Mont wine areas. Plaisance is a short cycle or even shorter drive away, and the mountains of the Pyrenees are only 75 minutes away.

Au Bourg benefits from a large, fully enclosed court yard with a large patio and decking area to soak up the sun, have an aperitif, or simply barbecue. There is also a large front paddock where we normally put the children's slide and wendy house, and it can be used for football, badminton etc. We have a variety of paddling pools and water slides for use at the property, as well as bikes (various sizes), sports equipment etc.

About the location

Au Bourg is ideally situated for a relaxing summer holiday. Situated along a randonee route in a tranquil village, there is ample walking in the surrounding area or the Pyrenees (75 minutes to the ski-resort of Cauteret) are also within easy reach. As it is on a flat plain, it is also the ideal location for cycling to the nearby towns of Plaisance or Maubouguet to explore the local markets, using your own bikes or the bikes provided. If you would prefer to exercise your palate, the fantastic wine areas of Madiran and St Mont are only a few minutes drive away. 

The world famous Marciac Jazz Festival takes place in August, with the Madiran wine festival following hot on its heels. Gascony is renowned for its cuisine and the local restaurants will not disappoint.

How to get here

Hères is 6 kilometers south west of the small town of Plaisance and 11 kilometers north of Maubourguet just to the east of the D935 and between the rivers Adour and Loiret.

To the south-west is Pau (58 k.) which is served by Ryanair from Bristol and Stansted.  Toulouse and Bordeaux airports are also within easy reach and are served by a wider variety of carriers.  The nearest train station is Tarbes (36k away).
