• A two minute walk away is La Rigole du la Plaine, a small stream constructed in the 17th century to carry water from the mountains to the Canal du Midi (itself 5 minutes away by car).  
• The shaded towpath along La Rigole is excellent for walking, hiking, jogging, or bicycling as far as you care to go.

The gite has a light and spacious feel throughout and recently renovated to a high standard, and comprises:

• Kitchen - is spacious and well-equipped while retaining country style.
• Sitting area - an elegant and comfortable area with a view onto a shaded terrace and the large garden. 
• 2 bedrooms - one double and one twin bedroom. Both generous, light filled rooms overlooking the garden and farmland toward a small canal. 
• Bathroom - large room with double washbasins and a walk-in "Italian-style" shower
• Separate WC

About the location

Les Carries is located in the calm of the countryside near Castelnaudary, midway between Carcassonne and Toulouse.  We have only one gite, there are no nearby neighbours and no nearby roads.  Surrounded by fields, birds and church bells across the fields are the predominant sounds.

Nonetheless, the A61 motorway is within 15 minutes, allowing easy access to and from the airports and rail stations in Carcassonne and Toulouse. 

The gite is 3 minutes by car, or 8 minutes by bicycle, from all basic amenities in the nearby village of Labastide d'Anjou: a bar/tabac, two restaurants (one with garden seating and excellent cassoulet), boulangerie, boucherie (with wine and basic groceries), hair salon, pharmacy and medical clinic. A choice of supermarkets is 15 minutes by car in the small towns of Castelnaudary and Villefranche de Lauragais.  There are a number of restaurants within short distance, ranging from basic French fare alongside the Canal du Midi to haute cuisine in a castle village.
