A beautifully restored and imaginatively converted old bakehouse, now housing luxury accommodation just for two people. The Old Bakehouse is set in 9 acres of grounds with exclusive use of heated swimming pool and a pool house which has a fire hearth and full cooking facilities and shower room and toilet.

2000ft up in the rolling hills and the deep valleys of the Truyere Gorge, the cottage is highly recommended for peace and tranquillity, yet just 5 minutes away is  Lacroix Barrez, which has a village store where you can buy fresh bread and croissants daily.  Two excellent restaurants are in Mur de Barrez 8 miles way. Entraygues, 8 miles away, is an interesting medieval town with 3 markets per week in summer. There are tennis courts in the local village of St. Hippolyte 1 mile away, choice of golf courses about 30 minutes away and a nearby horse riding establishment. The ski resorts are just an hour away and this cottage is available during the winter months.

Many of the old features of the Bakehouse have been blended into the renovations, including a most attractive fully vaulted beamed ceiling in the living area, whilst the old baking oven highlighted in the bedroom, conjures an almost dreamlike setting.

Every year this is the most popular cottage for 2 people. Book early to be sure of getting your preferred weeks.

The Old Bakehouse is entered through its own private garden area, which has table and chairs, easy chairs and barbecue.

The cottage comprises:

• Kitchen / living / dining room - the comfortable living area has a kitchen at one end providing electric oven, gas hob, fridge and dishwasher. Also there is a dining table and chairs and comfortable armchair and settee and a small woodburning stove. Also UK digital TV, and DVD with films.
• Double bedroom - with en-suite bathroom with bath, shower, WC and hand basin.

There is also a laundry.

Outside

Visitors to The Old Bakehouse have almost sole use of the heated 11 x 5 metre swimming pool. It is situated about 45 metres from the cottage and has a pool house with shower, changing room, kitchen and barbecue. It is shared by the owners in residence in the main house within the extensive grounds.

There are walks around the 10 acres of grounds and ample parking close to the cottage.

How to get here

By Car:

The directions to the property depend on the route being taken through France. Unless you are proposing to take a leisurely tour down to the area, I think it is easiest to travel on the auto routes down through France.

If crossing Dover/Calais or other short crossings, pick up the Paris signs A26 E15 After 30-40 kms the auto route divides - follow Paris A1 E15 2 hours on you pass under Charles De Gaulle airport From here on follow religiously the Bordeaux and Nantes then Orleans signs around the Paris periphique. Always take care that you get in the correct lane - the junctions often come to you very quickly. Follow the Orleans signs because that is where you are going to finish up. This road once you are on the south side of Paris is known as A10- but they don’t tell you that.

After Orleans you take the A71. From here you pick up the A11 Clermont Ferrand signs. The auto route continues past Clermont toll free to “Massiac” where you should leave the auto route and continue to the N122 towards Aurillac. Continue until reaching “Aurillac”. In Aurillac follow the signs to Rodez. The cottage is 30 mins south towards Rodez.

By Plane:

If arriving via Rodez airport, turn right out of the airport. In Rodez town there is a by pass, follow the signs to Millau and Clermont Ferrand. This takes you over several roundabouts. After you pass under a high viaduct you will turn left at the next roundabout sign posted Aurillac and Espalion. Drive through to Espalion and follow main road through town. After going over the river turn left 100 metres on sign posted Aurillac. Follow this road through Estaing and on to Entraygues. Approximate journey time from Rodez 1 hour 15 mins.
