An attractively restored Normandy farmhouse in a tranquil area of the Normandy bocage, yet minutes away from Saint Lo. If you are looking for peace and quiet in the beautiful Normandy countryside, you will be happy here.

The house has excellent parking and has gardens front and back. The area behind (overlooking the fields) is in the process of becoming a wild flower field with young trees and a new pond.  Overlooking this is a terrace with an awning, sun loungers, dining table and chairs and a swing seat, as well as a barbecue.

Accommodation detail

A comfortable double bedroom with en suite bathroom and small adjoining dressing room.   Downstairs is a large well appointed living room with fireplace, beamed ceiling, television (French and English), books and games. Breakfast is served in the dining room or outside on the terrace in fine weather, as is dinner if required.

About the location

Le Cauchais is situated in a quiet hamlet. The house overlooks typical Normandy "bocage" and has attractive green lanes for country walks, as well as excellent riding facilities near by. The town of Saint Lo is just minutes away and has several excellent restaurants and the weekly market is on Saturdays. A French National Stud is on the outskirts and may be visited.

Bayeux is a charming town with the famous Tapestry and a lovely cathedral and is about thirty minutes drive away.

The beautiful Chateau de Balleroy, owned by the Forbes family, is quite close and well worth a visit. The Normandy beaches, museums, memorials and cemetaries are about 40 minutes away.  The Memorial museum at Caen is also about 40 minutes away..

How to get here

The nearest railway station is at Lison, on the direct line from Paris to Cherbourg and the nearest ferry to the UK is Cherbourg (about 60 minutes) and the ferry at Le Havre is about one and quarter hours away. From the Eurotunnel it is an easy drive via autoroute and takes three and a half to four hours. The nearest international airport is Paris. Ryanair flies to Dinard, about two hours away.
