Home description

Pretty cottage on the estate of a 17th century gascogne chateau. Self contained but guests are free to share in the facilities available in the chateau grounds such as the large swimming pool, tranquil wooded garden walks and games room. Dining at the chateau is available if required.

The Chateau Gardens

One of the main features of the chateau are its mature and well nurtured gardens.

Informal in style the 10 acres of gardens surround the chateau and provide pleasant areas to stroll or to sit and relax.

There are some magnificent large trees in the parkland to the front of the chateau which provide welcoming shade in the height of summer as well as being home to the resident red squirrels, deer and abundant bird life.

About the location

Chateau Pomiro is about 6km from the bastide village of Montreal du Gers

The town of Eauze is the capital of Armagnac and is about 12 km away. There is a good market here every Thursday.

The town of Condom with its 16th century cathedral and Armagnac museum is about 20 km away.

Auch is the capital of the Gers and is 50 km from the chateau. Auch, with its 15th century cathedral and famous stone stairway with a statue to D’Artagnan, is very popular with visitors.

Lourdes can easily be reached in an afternoon and is about 80 km away.

The nearby town of Vic Fezensac is famous for its Latino festival with music and dancing well into the early hours.

Biarritz is about 2 hours drive from the Chateau and Spain is just 2.5 hours away.

In winter the ski slopes of the Pyrenees are within 2 hours drive.

The Gers is famous for its gastronomy and there are many local restaurants to suit a wide variety of tastes and pockets. Having the lowest population in France this region remains unspoilt from mass tourism and visitors can experience the real rural French life.

How to get here

The nearest airport is Pau Pyrenees and is about 1 hour by car from the property. Toulouse airport is about 1 hour 45 minutes and Bordeaux is about 2 hours. Cheap schedule flights are now available into Biarritz and this airport is a scenic 2 hours drive away. Montreal du Gers is near to the town of Condom in the direction of Eauze which is the capital of Armganac.
