About the location
The historic towns of the Bearne region, such as Orthez, Pau, Navarrrenx, Salies de Bearne are all within a radius of 50 minutes drive. Biarritz and the Basque coast can be reached within an hours drive. The border with Spain is an hour and a half either via the coastal route or through the beautiful Pyrenees pass. There are various chateaux of note in the area. The landscape is made up of forests, ridges and valleys and natural springs which make for ideal walking territory. Arts and crafts are in abundance in this region, including France's only beret musuem!!! A must!
Bassercles offers peace and tranquility, where you can enjoy a drink at the local auberge and just sit and take in the Pyrenees range and meet the local villagers. You will always receive a walm welcome as is tradition in the Landes.
