Home description

Our apartment, Le Grand Cerf, is tastefully decorated and furnished capturing the Alpine ambience. With its 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen / lounge with a large pine table that seats 8 comfortably and the 2 balconies that overlook slopes it is an ideal location for a Winter or Summer holiday. We have a garage, ideal for storing your bikes and a ski cupboard. In the Winter when conditions allow you can ski in / ski out.

The gondola operates twice weekly in the Summer for walkers and mountain bikers. Down the road in Montriond (Ardent), Morzine and Les Gets the lifts run daily in the Summer. Les Gets staged the Mountain Bike World Championships 4 years ago. It is a great location for children with the adventure playgrounds, swimming, go karts and bike trails. Those who meet the age and height restrictions can go white water rafting. Not forgetting the adults (and budding juniors) there are golf courses in Les Gets, Avoriaz, Evian and Chamonix.

St Jean D’ Aulps / La Grande Terche is a quiet self contained resort and for skiers great for learners and those who do not like crowds. There are bars and restaurants ideal for apres ski or sitting outside in the Summer. The main Les Portes du Soleil ski area, one of the largest in Europe, is only 20 minutes away either at Ardent, Morzine or Les Gets. Lake Geneva is 25 minutes away either by going to Thonon or Evian.

Being only 75 minutes from Geneva it is ideal for those flying in from the UK. By car it is 8 hours from Calais.

The apartment is serviced by 2 lifts. In the Winter snow chains may be required to reach our apartment.

About the location

Our apartment is in La Grande Terche a domaine in the pretty quiet village of St Jean D'Aulps.  We are at the highest point with great views overlooking the ski slopes and mountains. St Jean D'Aulps  and La Grand Terche have a number of restaurants, bars and small  supermarkets open in the Winter and Summer seasons. On the outskirts of St Jean D'Aulps is the large Champion supermarket. 

The nearest town is Morzine which is ten minutes away and has a large number of restaurants, bars, supermarkets and hotels. Ten minutes beyond Morzine is the reknowned classy ski resort of Les Gets.

The Lake Geneva resorts of Evian and Thonon Les Bains are only  30 minutes towards Geneva ( 75 minutes).

How to get here

Geneva is the nearest airport and the easiest journey is via the motorway towards France, Chamonix leaving the motorway at Cluses and heading towards Les Gets, Morzine,  St Jean D'Aulps and upto La Grande Terche. You can go into Geneva centre, Thonon and then towards Morzine leaving the road as you enter St Jean D'Aulps.

From Calais it is Reims, Dijon, Chamonix, Cluses and then as above to La Grande Terche.
