Les Tourterelles (The Turtledoves) has been converted from an old timber framed barn into a building reminiscent of the medieval houses of Troyes.  It has been awarded 4 stars by the préfecture and 4 keys by Clévacances.  The large oak beams have been exposed wherever possible as have the limestone walls giving the rooms a certain charm.  The rooms are spacious.

It faces a courtyard, with the other barns and farmhouse and has its own private terrace with wooden table, chairs and parasol.

The terrace at the end of the garden is the ideal place for sitting and relaxing, enjoying the views across the fields to the forests, especially when the sun is setting.  Why not sit on the terrace and have an aperatif or dine al fresco?  A barbecue is available for your use.  The terrace by the swimming pool is good for playing table tennis and across on the other side is the boules pitch, under the shade of the large trees that separate our property from the farm next door. 

The swimming pool, approximately 17 m by 7m, is available and heated from May to September. Shelter and security is provided by a wall on three sides and a sun shelter on the fourth. Sunbeds with mattresses are available along the length of the pool together with large parasols for additional protection.

Accommodation detail

• A large oven with hob is available for those who love cooking along with a fully equipped kitchen including Blender, Pressure cooker, Mixer etc
• In the large sitting room/dining room, a wood burner nestles in the chimney place providing additional heat and ambience if you so desire, there is TV, satellite and DVD.
• The main bedroom with an exposed stone wall has a king size bed and satellite TV along with ensuite bathroom with bath, shower, hand basin and toilet. 
• The second bedroom with double aspect windows has two single beds though is large enough to accommodate a third if requested. 
• A large shower room is available. 
• The third bedroom has french windows with a Juliette balcony and an en-suite shower room with toilet and hand basin and a hairdryer.

In front of the gite is a terrace with wood garden furniture and parasol.  Privacy is offered by the surrounding flower beds and trellis supporting climbing plants.

About the location

The Champagne Route - Les Tourterelles is 3km from the nearest vineyard in the Côte des Bar Champagne Region.  Sarah is able to provide a 'Maisons de Champagne' Tour including translation where required and driving you around so that you may concentrate on the champagne tasting and not worry about driving.
 
Great Lakes of the Fôret D'Orient - Each year a world fishing competion is held here, some of the many lakes in the area with with carp. The lakes provide for a great day out wth sandy beaches and protected swimming areas.   10 minutes away is Lac Amance where you may participate in water power sports such as water skiing, jet skiing or hire a motor boat.  A bit further away is Lac du Temple for those bird lovers. This is an imortant ornithological area with many bird stopping here on their migratory routes. Then there is Lac d'Orient which is dedicated to water sports such as windsurfing and sailing.. 
 
Medieval Towns of Troyes and Bar-sur-Aube  - Wander around the narrow streets amongst the tall timber framed houses.  In addition, Troyes is home to the largest factory outlet shops in Europe so for those keen for a day's shopping - look out for the sales!
 
Nigloland, the 3rd largest Amusement Park in France - Just 5 minutes drive, nestling in a valley surrounded by woods is Nigloand; great for all ages and good value!

Additional price information

• Supplementary bed for seventh person 50 € per week
• The beds are ready made up for your arrival, with quality percale cotton sheets. Also included in the price are towels for the bathroom.
• Wood is available in the price of rental for the wood burner.  
• Towels are available for hire for use by the pool, otherwise please bring your own. 
• A cot for a baby is available for hire at 25 € a week
• It is requested that you leave Les Tourterelles in the same state that you found it at the end of your stay.  Optionally, there is a cleaning service of 50 € to be requested in advance.
• Hire of PC with Printer, 50 € per week.
• Contract issued by Clévacances to be signed to confirm reservation along with deposit of 25% or rental.
• Caution of 25% to be paid on arrival to cover any breakages etc.  Returned to you within 7 days of your stay.
