Rural Gîte with Swimming Pool Ideal for Walkers and Cyclists

Les Roses Tremière is a lovely little independent gîte that came to the market in 2008 following a complete renovation and the installation of a delightful swimming pool. This gîte has quickly become popular with couples seeking peace and quiet amid verdant countryside. Set on the resident owner's 7 acre property and surrounded by garden and woodland, it has its own terrace and enjoys good privacy with no window facing the owner's house. It is just 50 metres from the pool which is not overlooked by either house. There is very generous terracing around the pool affording views across the local countryside. A large canopy and recliner seating complete the poolside pleasure.

The gîte is ideal for a couple having just one bedroom which is normally set out with a double bed. This arrangement can be changed for twin beds if requested at the time of booking.    There is additional sleeping provided in the lounge where the ‘clic-clac’ convertible settee changes into a very comfortable double bed in 5 seconds. This allows the gîte to accommodate 4 people (usually being parents and 2 children). If you are considering renting the gîte for 3 or 4 adults make sure everyone will be comfortable with this arrangement of sleeping and the space available for eating inside when necessary. Our concern is for the comfort of our guests and so we do not really encourage such rentals.

The grounds around the gîte are a delight and guests are welcome to visit all parts. The abundance of flowers, shrubs, ornamental trees and surrounding woodland are a haven for a variety of wildlife such as birds and butterflies. Often birdsong is the only sound to be heard and when this falls off on hot summer days you may then experience that great rarity, total silence.

Located in the Region of Centre at the southern end of the Department of Indre close to the border with Creuse, the gite really is in rural France and offers almost unlimited countryside walking and cycling amidst countless small farmsteads and natural woodland.

For walkers we have details of over 150 designated circular walks ranging from 4 kms to 25 kms.  In addition to the official maps and guides we have over 50 of our own descriptions of some of these walks. Ours guides are in great detail ensuring you will not get lost and mostly describe those walks that can be completed in 1 to 3 hours.

For cyclists this area offers hundreds of kilometres of quiet country roads to explore. We can provide on free loan two mountain bikes which have had comfortable saddles fitted.
Whether you are walking or cycling we also have available on free loan rucksacks, bum-bag kagools, map-holder, compass and maps.

This unspoilt area is also a delight for the motorist wishing to rediscover the joys of congestion free travel long lost in most of the UK. With empty roads away from the urban areas, many dead-straight main roads over rolling hills and ample free parking in most towns you can rediscover stress free driving.
For golf enthusiasts we have the excellent 18 hole course at Les Dryades within 10 minutes. Those interested should look at their website. Alternatively we can provide full details of the course with costs etc.

Holiday Accommodation at Les Roses Tremière

Les Roses Tremière offers a truly rural setting combined with the comforts of modern living for 2 to 4 people. The gîte benefits from electric central heating and instant hot water ensuring trouble-free comfort whatever the outside temperature and making it an ideal place to stay out of season. My wife and I (both English) are on site all year to make sure everything is clean and working.

Lounge - this has a large radiator, four wall lights, satellite television receiving BBC and ITV channels and DVD player. The generous settee is a French ‘ clic-clac’, which converts in seconds into a very comfortable double bed. There are 2 additional easy chairs, coffee table and storage space. Tiled floor. South facing double glazed French windows leading onto the terrace. Double glazed window looking east looking out onto woodland. Electric fan.

Kitchen - fully equipped with newly fitted Hygena units, dishwasher, large full height fridge/freezer, halogen hob unit and multi-function microwave oven (conventional oven, grill and microwave functions). A small table and chairs. Radiator. Main entrance door. Door to bedroom and door to small interspace which fully separates the kitchen from the bathroom. Tiled floor. East facing double glazed window with view as described above. Electricity meter.

Bedroom - This can be fitted out with twin beds or a double bed to your preference.  Furniture includes bedside table(s) and generous wardrobe space. Individual reading lights. Radiator. Tiled floor. Door to interspace and then the bathroom. North facing double glazed window looking out onto part of the garden, a small field and woodland beyond.

Bathroom - is fully tiled and has a generous quarter circle walk-in shower with hydro-massage jets and seat. Washbasin and toilet. Electric heated towel rail. Cupboard which houses the large electric water heater (200 litres) and also provides a small storage space. Linen storage cupboard above. Washing machine. Automatic extractor fan. Another east facing window.

Outside

Guests have at their disposal an attractive outdoor pool, which benefits from a heat pump, which operates when the air temperature is above 16°C and should extend the swimming season from mid-May to mid-October. The very generous terracing around the pool amounts to over 100m2 offering ample space for relaxation on the sun loungers either in direct sun or under the elegant shady canopy. This delightful pool is set some 50 metres away from both the gite and our own house and is completely private from these and any other property.

The gîte has its own tiled terrace (approx. 5m x 3.5m) and enclosed by a low wall. Facing south, the terrace will capture sun all day and has a delightful garden view. A large oval table and 4 chairs are provided for enjoying summertime meals and drinks alfresco. A charcoal barbecue and drinks trolley are included in the terrace furniture.

About Crevant in Indre, Loire Valley

The area is predominantly farming with quiet country roads. With an abundance of greenery, hedgerows and natural woodland it is reminiscent of the best of the English countryside.  Our nearest village (5 mins) boasts a roadside auberge and a first class restaurant together with a small general shop, boucherie and boulangerie.  Supermarkets are available in Aigurande (15 mins) and La Châtre (20 mins) with good street markets in both towns.  All around us it is hard to miss the fact that you are in George Sand territory.

Little treasures await discovery here and there such as the picturesque town of Gargilesse or the confluence of the Creuse and Petit Creuse rivers where Monet painted.

For the more adventurous Argenton with its remains of the roman town of Argentomagus, and Bourges with its lovely olde worlde area await. Water sports are available at several of the local lakes but in particular at Sidiailles and Chambon. Closer to home we have an excellent golf course, Les Dryades with its wonderful views a mere 10 mins away.

See Local guide and map for information on nearby towns and facilities.
