Gite de la Borde is part of a spacious farmhouse in a small rural village, 5 km from Foix in the foothills of the Ariege Pyrenees. The gite can be rented whole or in part, and we also offer bed and breakfast. It is wonderfully situated to enjoy the fantastic opportunities for outdoor activities for which the area is renown. The owners are outdoor professionals and can offer all types of actvity - including walks, climbing, road and mountain-biking, snow-shoeing and skiing.

We have an indoor climbing wall, and a swimming pool set in a private, secure garden.  The property is very suitable and safe for children, and we offer children's activities and care.

Gite de la Borde is a 200 year old farmhouse with accommodation over 4 floors, and comprises:

• Kitchen - newly fitted utility kitchen with hob, washing machine, sink and fridge (shared with owners) and access to rear garden
• Lounge - large beamed room with leather sofas, TV DVD and video. There is also a wood burning stove
• Bedroom 1 - twin bed and bunk bed
• Bedroom 2 - double bed and shower
• Bedroom 3 - twin bed
• Bedroom 4 - two single beds
• Bathroom 1 - bath with shower, basin and WC
• Bathroom 2 - bath with shower, basin and WC  (ensuite to bedrooms 3 and 4)

Outside

• Secure front parking for 3 cars

About the location

Gite de la Borde is part of a spacious farmhouse in a peaceful rural village 5km to the North of Foix, the departemental capital of Ariege. It is an ideal base from which to explore the region's Cathar castles, prehistoric caves, mediaeval towns and markets and thermal spas, or from which to enjoy the fantastic opportunities for outdoor activities for which the Ariege is renown.

You can walk, hike , climb, cycle, mountain-bike, kayak and more. In winter there is downhill and cross-country skiing within 40 minutes, as well as snow-shoeing and dog sledging. There is a boulangerie, garage and post office 15 minutes walk from the house. Foix has many restaurants and cafes, a busy market, and all main services, and is 5 minutes by train or car.

How to get here

Gite de la Borde is 1 hour south of the airports of Toulouse and Carcassonne. Take Junction 10 of the N20 signposted Foix and St Jean de Verges. At the roundabout turn left to St Jean de Verges (1km). Cross the river and the level crossing and turn left then right, signposted to Loubieres (1.5km).

The station at St Jean de Verges (15 minutes walk) has regular services to Foix, Ax-les-Thermes, and Toulouse, and from there the high speed TGV to Paris and London.
