Beautiful 18th century home in heart of historic Uzes with private pool & garden
This 18th century traditional stone house is set in the heart of the historic market town of Uzès, only 300m from the famous “Place aux Herbes”. The house was fully renovated in 2007 and is situated in a quiet, pedestrian cobbled street which is part of the town’s beautiful historic quarter.
Immediate access to the most beautiful countryside for walking and cycling with the nearest vineyard only 200m away! Swimming in the local Gardon River, canoeing under the fabulous Pont du Gard and hiking in the Cevennes mountains are just a few of the favourite summer past times.
Holiday Accommodation at rue Xavier Sigalon
A beautifully renovated house in one of the prettiest streets in Uzes with original features including local stone and wooden beams. To have such a house with pool and garden in the centre of Uzès is what makes this house extra special.
- 5 spacious bedrooms
- 4 bathrooms (3 en suite)
- 5 toilets
The huge master bedroom has a beautiful Moroccan bathroom finished in Tadelakt (with a ridiculously big bath!) and overlooks the rear garden. The main living area is on the first floor with an open plan 60m lounge, dining area which opens through double doors onto the terrace and garden. Outside there is a summer kitchen and barbecue area for outdoor summer dining. In addition there is a further living room, small study are and double bedroom (with ensuite) on the ground floor. All the bedrooms are large including 2 childrens rooms with ample additional beds and sofa beds to cope with visitors.
The house has two huge flat screen TV's (with English channels), DVD players and surround sound system. The price includes 3 hours cleaning per week and use of bikes.
There is limited car access reserved for residents only and the house has its own garage. The house features a landscaped walled semi tropical garden with a small pool and fountain, ideal for cooling down in the summer months. The garden and pool can be flood lit at night and there is an automatic watering system.
About Uzes in Gard, Languedoc Roussillon
Uzès is a vibrant and historic town full of excellent restaurants, boulangeries, antique shops and small boutiques. The twice weekly market held in the Place aux Herbes (Wednesday and Saturday) attracts visitors from far and wide as does the Sunday antiques fair.
The house has all the advantages of being in a small cultural town but also has right on its door the most beautiful countryside. For those who love walking and cycling you can go far and wide from our doorstep without needing a car. This includes visiting the nearest vineyard only 200m away!! Swimming in the local Gardon River, canoeing under the fabulous Pont du Gard (3 stars in the Michlin giude), and hiking along the local trails are just a few of the favourite summer past times.
And for those who like visiting the sights, the historic and cultural cities of Avignon, Arles, Montpellier, Aix en Provence, Marseilles, Beziers and Orange are all within easy access. Don't miss the fabulous amphi-theatre "Les Arenes" in Nimes, the "Pont d'Avignon" and the Duché Castle in Uzes where the Duke is still resident.
For beach lovers, the beautiful coastline is just over an hours drive away and you can drive through the Camargue to get there or visit the walled town of Aigue-Mortes on the way. Also enjoy the stunning surrounding countryside including, the Ardeche gorges and the Cevennes Mountains.

How To Get To Uzes in Gard, South of France and the Riviera
Means of access
The simplest way is to put Uzes (rue Xavier Sigalon) into Google Maps and it will bring you from your location to our street. Otherwise, take the A9-E15 and exit at junction 23 (Remoulin / Pont du Gard). Follow the signs for Pont du Gard / Uzes. On arrival in Uzes follow the one way system to the Marie (Town Hall) and Tourist Office. As you face the tourist office, Rue Xavier Sigalon is on the right side. The house is 200m up this street on the right hand side. Car access is for residents only and you will need to collect the "electronic beep" in the house to lower the barriers and gain access to the street. You should drive slowly up the street since it is pedestrianised. There is a garage parking for one car. Further parking is available in the local underground car park, 200m away or on the neighboring streets. Most of the system is one way so visitors should take a moment to familiarise themselves with easiest access.
See Local guide and map for information on nearby towns and airports.

Fantastic house in a lovely secluded yet central part of the very historic and bustling Uzes. Highly recommended.

Just an absolutely wonderful home, and really well located in the very heart of the village. The owners were just delightful to deal with, extremely accommodating and full of local knowledge. The house is very spacious, and has everything you could possibly need. The use of the bikes was a real bonus. This was the one of the best family holidays we have ever had. I couldn't recommend this property enough.

This place is just a piece of paradise on earth! The location is wonderful: it is in the heart of the Uzes town while giving you the impression that you are in the remote country side once you are inside or in the patio. The house is very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The pool, despite being quite small is perfect for a family with young kids. I can only highly recommend this place, and I will definitely try to go back there sometime. I actually asked the owner Anton if he wanted to sell... :-)
