This beautifully restored maison de maitre, situated in the heart of a historic village, offers a relaxing, elegant setting surrounded by rolling hills and forests.

Steve and Maggie, the English proprietors, guarantee a warm welcome and generous helpings of delicious home-cooked French and Mediterranean food. Private parties can be catered for, for groups of up to 8 people. Why not make your next birthday, Christmas or New Year celebration one to remember!

Chateauvillain is an authentic village with a rich history. Visitors can enjoy exploring the medieval cobbled streets or spend a day in the magnificent deer park, which is a delight in all seasons. The surrounding area offers a wealth of attractions for nature lovers, wine tasters and those who enjoy outdoor pursuits, not to mention those with an interest in historic buildings.

Bed & Breakfast Accommodation at Maison du Milieu

Bedroom 1 - Courtyard View

Sleeps 1-2 people. The bedroom is traditionally decorated in creams and golds with antique furniture. The ensuite toilet and shower room are newly installed with quality fittings. This room looks out onto the rear courtyard. Guests have optional use of the conservatory for breakfast, or can eat in the main dining room.

Tariff for 1 person 40 euros per night, 2 people 70 euros.

Bedroom 2 - Green Room

Sleeps 1-2 people. Restful and elegant, this bedroom overlooks the valley and rolling hills that surround Chateavillain. The ensuite shower room has newly installed quality fittings. This room is located on the 2nd floor, accessed by the beauiful wide, sweeping oak staircase.

Tariff for 1 person 40 euros per night, 2 people 70 euros.

Bedroom 3 - Brown Room

Sleeps 1-2 people. This room is elegantly decorated in shades of cream with vibrant splashes of burgundy and features a beautiful original brown marble fireplace. It overlooks the valley and rolling hills that surround Chateauvillain. The newly installed luxury bathroom is fitted in traditional style and offers both space and comfort, with two sinks, a separate toilet room, a generous roll top bath and large shower. The bathroom is situated just a few paces from the bedroom across the oak landing. The Brown Room can be booked with exclusive use of the bathroom, or groups happy to share the bathroom facilities can also book the Blue and Grey rooms on the same floor:

Bedroom 4 - Blue Room

Sleeps 1-2 people. A very spacious room with a stunning Italian black marble fireplace, and decorated in soft shades of blue. This room overlooks the main street but shares the same peace and tranquility as the rear rooms at night. The large luxury bathroom is situated just a few paces across the landing.

Tariff for 1 person 35 euros per night, 2 people 65 euros.

Bedroom 5 - Grey Room

Sleeps 1-2 people. Another very spacious and elegant room featuring a grey marble fireplace, and decorated in shades of grey with white and burgundy accessories. This room has the advantage of an en-suite sink, and is also served by the large luxury bathroom which is situated just a few paces across the landing.

About Chateauvillain in Haute-Marne, Champagne Ardenne

In the heart of an historic French village with views of the nearby rolling hills from the second floor bedrooms. Medieval cobbled lanes are to rear of the house. Famous deer park to the south of the village.

Nearest city is Chaumont. Nearby golf course. Picnics and walks to be enjoyed in the deer park. Local trout fishing. Renowned carp fishing nearby. Excellent roads for cycling. Tours of Champagne houses. Regular art exhibitions hosted in the summer.  

There are 2 bars and 1 restaurant in the village along with supermarket, bakeries, post office and pharmacy. Champagne vineyards easily accessible by car. Further restaurants and bars in nearby Chaumont.

Easy access to A5 autoroute (15 minutes drive). Chateauvillain signposted at junction 23.

Beautifully decorated in a classic style with period features, the grand hall opens onto an impressive staircase that leads to the first and second floors. You can be forgiven for thinking you are staying in a mini chateau! There is one ground floor double bedroom with en suite shower room and toilet, 3 further double bedrooms on the second floor which share a large luxury bathroom (or each bedroom can be booked with exclusive use of the bathroom), and one room on the second floor, with en-suite shower and toilet facilities.

The house offers a peaceful and elegant setting and provides a perfect escape for a few days rest and relaxation.

The sheltered westward facing courtyard garden offers a relaxing place to rest in the warm sunshine.

Guests can store fishing equipment and bicycles etc in the secure garage.
