This medieval fortress town is steeped in Louis IX crusader history and character. Located 5km from the coast it is an ideal base to explore the Camargue national park with its famous flamingo's and wild horses. This park is a haven for all kinds of wildlife and the waterways of the area offer a unique way to discover this famous park. Camargue safari tours leave from Aigues Mortes regularly. Trekking on the white horses of the Camargue is also an enjoyable way to explore the park.

Some of the best beaches in the South of France are within an 8 minute drive of the villa and with Languedoc boasting approximately 300 days of sunshine per year it is a visitors dream. Golf can also be enjoyed nearby with one of the best courses in the region only 10km away.

The region boasts 4 Unesco world heritage sites, Nimes, Arles, Le Pont du Gard and the canal du midi. Visit the famous roman amphitheatres of Nimes and Arles and the impressive ancient aqueduct Le Pont du Gard. The famous Canal du Midi is easily accessed by boat from the marina and it is possible to cruise all the way to Toulouse.

The medieval city of Avignon is less than 45km away where you can visit the famous Pont d'Avignon and the Palace of the Popes, or you could visit the capital city of the region Montpellier which is only a 30 minute drive away.

Languedoc is famous for its wine and you can visit many of the famous wineries of the area. With its long coastline seafood is especially good in the area and this can be enjoyed in any one of the numerous restaurants. Gard boasts a number of shops suppling wonderful regional produce which are definitely worth a visit.
