The Logis de Lussais was built in the 18th century as a gentleman’s residence with an imposing Manor house and private vineyard, and later became a working farm. Today it remains a private residence, offering well equipped self catering family holiday accomodation and leisure facilities, within easy reach of the Atlantic coast, airports at Poitiers, La Rochelle and Angouleme and easy access to regional attractions. In addition to the owners house there are four cottages: L'Ecurie which sleeps four, La Remise also for four, La Conciergerie which accommodates six, and La Mouette for up to eight guests.
The property is approached along a private avenue lined with chestnut trees and entered through large imposing gates. The owners manor house and the self catering holiday cottages are located around a circular courtyard with a fountain.
The four cottages have their own front and rear private courtyard gardens, each with a patio table and chairs, a parasol and a barbecue. The properties have all been renovated to a high standard retaining many original features, and are all comfortably furnished and well equipped for a self catering holiday.
In the "Old Grange", an open barn accessed from the main courtyard, is a common games room which is very popular with families, featuring table tennis, pool table, air hockey and bar football. The barn leads to the south facing communal gardens with the two shared heated swimming pools and a variety of raquet sports including badminton, croquet, grass short tennis, football nets and boules.
The entire property is gated at the front and back, bordered with mature hedgerows and trees, offering seclusion, privacy and safety for children. The swimming pools are also fenced with security gates offering peace of mind for families with young children
The 10 x 5m heated swimming pool, features Roman steps leading down to a shallow end of 1.1 metre and a deep end of 2 metres. The second is a 8 x 4m heated swimming pool. Both pools have large sunbathing terraces with sun loungers and parasols. Next to the shared pool is a common fridge freezer where you can buy drinks and icecreams, some tables and chairs to relax and look over gardens. The second pool has a small bar and adjoining poolhouse with shower and wash room facilities
The communal gardens lead onto a country lane surrounded by woodlands and an abundance of wildlife, which is ideal for walking, cycling and taking a picnic by the River Boutonne. In the gardens, you are likely to see flocks of swifts and swallows, hen harriers and herons, and hear the cuckoo and hoopoe. Among the activities available locally are fishing, tennis and horse riding.
Wifi internet access is available on site free of charge. A welcome pack and some basic provisions are provided. Each gîte is stocked with information about local amenities and attractions.
The owners are available to help planning visits to restaurants and family days out

Our two week holiday was a combination of relaxation and activity that is matched only by the location which offers so much within a short drive, and the ideal French dream of croissants, bread and a chateau within walking distance. Add to the mix friendly, knowledgable but unobtrusive hosts and the package is complete.

We had a lovely time in wonderful weather at the Logis de Lussais. The gite was both comfortable and had everything we needed plus lots of outside eating space which was ideal for the weather. The pool, lawn games and play barn were great for all of us, and we really enjoyed the walk into Chef Boutonne with plenty of choice of shops and restaurants. Thank You!

We had a wonderful holiday, The gite was furnished and decorated to a high standard, the children loved the pool along with the other games that were available to them, the local area has plenty to offer those who enjoy sightseeing and the owners Clive and Pauline are very welcoming hosts. As added bonus for us, the weather was fantastic for the entire time we were on holiday. It was a truly enjoyable family holiday and we have all come home with some lovely memories. Hopefully one day we will go back.
