Le Douluch is a spacious converted stone barn with private pool situated in a tranquil spot high up in the hills overlooking the pretty village of Le Monastére. On a clear day the panoramique views extend 40km into the heart of Aveyron - the views from the main bedroom are particularly outstanding.

Accommodation detail

The owners have taken great care to ensure that the house, both inside and out, has been sympathetically converted. It retains many original features including its massive oak beams and it has been furnished to a very high standard with a distinctly regional flavour. The fully fitted and well equipped kitchen and extremely spacious living accommodation makes this a very comfortable house for six people.

The main entrance opens out on to a patio with barbeque, garden table and chairs with sun parasol - in fact everything you need for lazy days in the sun! The swimming pool is situated on an upper terrace and can also be reached through french doors from both the twin bedrooms.

About the location

Le Douluch is situated in a quiet rural location high up in the hills overlooking the village of Le Monastére.  Estaing, one of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France, is just 15 minutes by car.  Its beautiful chateau and 13th-century stone bridge are on the pilgrims route to Compostela.

The nearest small town is Espalion, where you will find a wealth of family-run shops, cafés, restaurants and a thriving Friday market. The city of Rodez is 45 minutes by car and has an airport providing links to London (Stansted) with a low-cost airline.

How to get here

The cottage is located midway between Rodez and Aurillac off the D920 in the department of Aveyron in South West France. Driving time from Calais is approximately 10 hours with stops and from Caen approximately 8 hours. Precise directions and details can be supplied on request.

By rail: trains run from Paris in the North or Toulouse in the South to Rodez or Aurillac where car hire is available.

By air: flights from Stansted to Rodez are daily during July & August and on varying days throughout the rest of the year. Car hire is available at the airport.

Towels are not included in the rental price but can be provided on request  for a small additional charge.
