My family and I (my wife and 11 year old twin daughters) had the most amazing stay at Chez Mervent. We felt relaxed as soon as we walked through the door - it was sumptuous and elegant in its decor and the private pool was a god send! The little extras really made a difference to our stay - things like beach towels, books, outdoor toys, SKY TV, barbecue utensils etc... We have stayed at many villas and it is often annoying when little things aren't available - silly things like no egg cups when you fancy a boiled egg - no chance of that at chez mervent - literally everything has been thought of.

The surrounding area is truly beautiful and the people are so friendly - so much to do for all ages. We will definitely rent again!

Super house, with an excellent layout. The location to the Mervent forest and lake was ideal!

There is loads to do locally, we visited the zoo which is just round the corner, fished on the lake-(which is just so beautiful!)-ate out at some of the many local restaurants/bars and took a day trip to La Rochelle-(the aquarium is a must).

The owners have truly thought of everything, the kids loved the pool and it really felt like a home from home, would thoroughly recommend this property and hope to return here soon!

The villa was modern, spacious, very clean, an an ideal base for a holiday in the area. It was perfect for relaxing in, and enjoying the pool and sun. Kitchen and BBQ is ideal for cooking at home. Good areas to visit locally - Fontenay, Vouvant, La Rochelle and the canal towns/villages of the maritime area. Only a short walk/cycle to lake mervent with a couple of bars/restaurants. Would highly recommend.

We had a very good holiday, due in large part to the excellence of the accommodation - it suited our purposes ideally, in that my wife and I had the top floor and the younger generation were all together on the floor below.  The weather was pretty good, generally sunny and warm, and although there was some rain, heavy at times & mainly overnight, it didn't cause us any problems.

Our granddaughter suffers from Coeliac disease, consequently eating out is problematic and the well fitted kitchen, both in terms of appliances and tools, was most welcome. The pool was superb.

The Marais has a distinct charm; our grandchildren enjoyed looking for wildlife - otters, kingfishers etc - on the rivers in the Mervent forest.  We thought Vouvant is much overrated.  We had a super day at Puy du Fou - the bird show is an absolute must. The changeover team were friendly, efficient and very helpful.

We have stayed in many houses and cottages and without doubt this has been one of the best equipped, cleanest, houses we have stayed in. The girls thought the pool was fantastic and used it almost every day. The surrounding area is beautiful and the river is great fun. The local towns and villages are very beautiful, I would recommend Vouvant for a visit, very picturesque. St Rochelle is well worth spending a day, some of the restaurants are fantastic. The views from the top of the towers are fabulous. The local pattiserie is great, the cakes are to die for. We will definitely be visiting again.

This was the most fabulous villa we have ever stayed in.  Everything you could possibly want was supplied. It has a brilliantly equipped kitchen and every mod-con that I can think of. Fabulous pool that me and the kids were in every day and a great outdoor barbecue area. I cannot recommend it highly enough and we will definitely be back.

The property is very modern, clean, spacious with extensive facilities. Our family consisted of a full allocation of 9 (4 adults & 5 teenagers) and all of us thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks at Chez Mervent. The pool area is awesome and there wasn't a day when it wasn't used, partly because of the fabulous Summer weather we enjoyed during our holiday. In fact the property was so well equipped and relaxing that we didn't travel as widely as we had originally intended. The other thing I would add is that upon arrival it becomes very obvious that the owners, Debbie & Dave, have put in a massive amount of effort into ensuring that guests have everything they need for an enjoyable holiday. They really have thought of everything.

We were fortunate enough to be on holiday during Bastille Day and the celebrations down by the Lake that evening were something to behold. It really is a beautiful unspoilt area of France, away from the hustle bustle which is what we wanted having fairly hectic lives back home. The local people are very welcoming and friendly especially if you are willing to speak French. None of us were fluent French speakers but we got by easily and enjoyed the experience greatly.

On the occasions we ate out in the local area, the food was always good. I would particularly recommend the Pizzeria, Le Mangoustan, on the Lake at Mervent. The food was 1st class and the relaxed atmosphere was ideal for a party of 9 with several teenagers on tow.

Since we have returned to Scotland the rain has hardly stopped and it really makes you appreciate the wonderful climate of the Vendee!

Thanks again to Debbie and Dave for making our holiday so special.

A real home from home, especially if you have a four bedroom villa, with pool, in a quiet residential location!

Nothing is left out to enableyou to have a great break in a pleasant location. Beautifully appointed, our usually critical group of seven (including 3 children) had a great time and nobody wanted to go home. The area allows you to be as active as you want, trips out, walks in the forest or lazy days by the pool. We didn't venture to the coast, but being only an hour or so away, it wouldn't be a problem.

Only problem for some people, but not us, is that there are no shops within walking distance. The morning bread run is a good 4k jog (or drive) but the nearest restaurant can be reached with a 20 minute walk downhill through the woods (uphill back though)

Checking in and out were hassle free, and all dealings with the owners prior to our visit were first class. Overall a very enjoyable experience from booking to coming home. You will not be disappointed!

A beautifully presented property in a lovely location only five minutes from the picturesque Mervent forest. We found the owners to be a great help in the booking and travel process giving useful tips when needed.

The villa has a very light and airy feel about it and we found it to be very clean and well presented on our arrival.

It is extremely well equipped to a high standard and the owners seem to have put a great deal of effort into ensuring your needs and requirements are met. We found the outside areas to be clean and with enough seating areas both in the sun and shade. The pool is very well maintained and was an excellent way to cool down and keep the children entertained on the hot sunny afternoons.

The owners provide an informative folder with suggestions of  the places to visit and of  the local areas restaurants etc. You will never be short of things to do or places to visit in this region of the country

We would recommend a visit to this beautiful villa and location
