Guest Reviews Of Chez Mervent- Luxury 4 Bed Villa, Private heated pool, Wi Fi

My family and I (my wife and 11 year old twin daughters) had the most amazing stay at Chez Mervent. We felt relaxed as soon as we walked through the door - it was sumptuous and elegant in its decor and the private pool was a god send! The little extras really made a difference to our stay - things like beach towels, books, outdoor toys, SKY TV, barbecue utensils etc... We have stayed at many villas and it is often annoying when little things aren't available - silly things like no egg cups when you fancy a boiled egg - no chance of that at chez mervent - literally everything has been thought of.

The surrounding area is truly beautiful and the people are so friendly - so much to do for all ages. We will definitely rent again!

Super house, with an excellent layout. The location to the Mervent forest and lake was ideal!

There is loads to do locally, we visited the zoo which is just round the corner, fished on the lake-(which is just so beautiful!)-ate out at some of the many local restaurants/bars and took a day trip to La Rochelle-(the aquarium is a must).

The owners have truly thought of everything, the kids loved the pool and it really felt like a home from home, would thoroughly recommend this property and hope to return here soon!

The villa was modern, spacious, very clean, an an ideal base for a holiday in the area. It was perfect for relaxing in, and enjoying the pool and sun. Kitchen and BBQ is ideal for cooking at home. Good areas to visit locally - Fontenay, Vouvant, La Rochelle and the canal towns/villages of the maritime area. Only a short walk/cycle to lake mervent with a couple of bars/restaurants. Would highly recommend.

We had a very good holiday, due in large part to the excellence of the accommodation - it suited our purposes ideally, in that my wife and I had the top floor and the younger generation were all together on the floor below.  The weather was pretty good, generally sunny and warm, and although there was some rain, heavy at times & mainly overnight, it didn't cause us any problems.

Our granddaughter suffers from Coeliac disease, consequently eating out is problematic and the well fitted kitchen, both in terms of appliances and tools, was most welcome. The pool was superb.

The Marais has a distinct charm; our grandchildren enjoyed looking for wildlife - otters, kingfishers etc - on the rivers in the Mervent forest.  We thought Vouvant is much overrated.  We had a super day at Puy du Fou - the bird show is an absolute must. The changeover team were friendly, efficient and very helpful.

We have stayed in many houses and cottages and without doubt this has been one of the best equipped, cleanest, houses we have stayed in. The girls thought the pool was fantastic and used it almost every day. The surrounding area is beautiful and the river is great fun. The local towns and villages are very beautiful, I would recommend Vouvant for a visit, very picturesque. St Rochelle is well worth spending a day, some of the restaurants are fantastic. The views from the top of the towers are fabulous. The local pattiserie is great, the cakes are to die for. We will definitely be visiting again.

This was the most fabulous villa we have ever stayed in.  Everything you could possibly want was supplied. It has a brilliantly equipped kitchen and every mod-con that I can think of. Fabulous pool that me and the kids were in every day and a great outdoor barbecue area. I cannot recommend it highly enough and we will definitely be back.

The property is very modern, clean, spacious with extensive facilities. Our family consisted of a full allocation of 9 (4 adults & 5 teenagers) and all of us thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks at Chez Mervent. The pool area is awesome and there wasn't a day when it wasn't used, partly because of the fabulous Summer weather we enjoyed during our holiday. In fact the property was so well equipped and relaxing that we didn't travel as widely as we had originally intended. The other thing I would add is that upon arrival it becomes very obvious that the owners, Debbie & Dave, have put in a massive amount of effort into ensuring that guests have everything they need for an enjoyable holiday. They really have thought of everything.

We were fortunate enough to be on holiday during Bastille Day and the celebrations down by the Lake that evening were something to behold. It really is a beautiful unspoilt area of France, away from the hustle bustle which is what we wanted having fairly hectic lives back home. The local people are very welcoming and friendly especially if you are willing to speak French. None of us were fluent French speakers but we got by easily and enjoyed the experience greatly.

On the occasions we ate out in the local area, the food was always good. I would particularly recommend the Pizzeria, Le Mangoustan, on the Lake at Mervent. The food was 1st class and the relaxed atmosphere was ideal for a party of 9 with several teenagers on tow.

Since we have returned to Scotland the rain has hardly stopped and it really makes you appreciate the wonderful climate of the Vendee! Thanks again to Debbie and Dave for making our holiday so special.

A real home from home, especially if you have a four bedroom villa, with pool, in a quiet residential location!

Nothing is left out to enableyou to have a great break in a pleasant location. Beautifully appointed, our usually critical group of seven (including 3 children) had a great time and nobody wanted to go home. The area allows you to be as active as you want, trips out, walks in the forest or lazy days by the pool. We didn't venture to the coast, but being only an hour or so away, it wouldn't be a problem.

Only problem for some people, but not us, is that there are no shops within walking distance. The morning bread run is a good 4k jog (or drive) but the nearest restaurant can be reached with a 20 minute walk downhill through the woods (uphill back though)

Checking in and out were hassle free, and all dealings with the owners prior to our visit were first class. Overall a very enjoyable experience from booking to coming home. You will not be disappointed!

A beautifully presented property in a lovely location only five minutes from the picturesque Mervent forest. We found the owners to be a great help in the booking and travel process giving useful tips when needed.

The villa has a very light and airy feel about it and we found it to be very clean and well presented on our arrival.

It is extremely well equipped to a high standard and the owners seem to have put a great deal of effort into ensuring your needs and requirements are met. We found the outside areas to be clean and with enough seating areas both in the sun and shade. The pool is very well maintained and was an excellent way to cool down and keep the children entertained on the hot sunny afternoons.

The owners provide an informative folder with suggestions of  the places to visit and of  the local areas restaurants etc. You will never be short of things to do or places to visit in this region of the country

We would recommend a visit to this beautiful villa and location

The directions provided from the ferry terminal were spot on and from the start of our visit we soon discovered that we were going to want for nothing in the villa.

The kids (and us) loved nothing better than playing in the pool. Even on some of the not so sunny days the water was still warm enough for a bit of swimming. The villa itself was so well equipped that it felt totally like a home from home. The kitchen seemed to have every utensil that you could ever need and was well used by us. The main living space was well used by the kids who liked to get up and watch TV before we got up and we also used the DVD player to have a nightly movie to keep the kids amused.

The bedrooms were a great size and also well laid out as were the bathroom and en-suite. Whilst there we did some of the touristy things such as Puy Du Fou which was really good and gave a full day's entertainment for all of us (ps we left one of the small headphone sets for Puy Du Fou in the drawer which had all of the local info). We also went to La Rochelle which is a really lovely town and enjoyed lunch down by the harbour.

The lake itself is lovely and we were even brave enough to wander down the forest path to get to it and even braver to take one of the small boats out onto the lake! We also used the local tennis court to have a hit about. Thanks very much again for a great holiday and I can definitely say we will be back!

Chez Mervent is a lovely new and spacious property, With everything we needed. Three large comfy bedrooms our 3 children aged 11,15 and 16 didn't argue over, they agreed that they each had the best room! Up another small staircase to the master bedroom with en-suite for my husband and I. After his first shower in the en-suite, my son declared it Awesome!

Downstairs was just as comfortable and as we were there during the Olympics the added bonus was English Sky television. The kitchen is extremely well equipped, and although our cooking was quite basic because we were on our holidays, I could have baked anything we desired, so extensive was the equipment range.  We did make use of the washers and dryers, returning home with very minimal washing.

Outside was the real joy, lovely gardens and the heated pool. We had just finished a busy week in Paris so to be able to relax and swim was heaven. The location was good, in the Mervent forest with beautiful lake, but apart from our journey to the villa we didn't really venture to Mervent itself. The Boulangerie along the road had mouth watering treats and was very friendly. We ventured to Futurescope at Poitiers, quite a long journey, but definitely worth it. We stayed for the evening light show which was lovely. We also visited La Rochelle just 45mins away, lovely harbour town, very many restaurants. We had a nice meal there, the girls had hair braids done at the harbour market and our son had a go a bungee trampolining on the beach.

We were blessed with fantastic weather the entire week, and thoroughly enjoyed our time at Chez Mervent.

Our family of four stayed for a week at this lovely villa. It is in pristine condition, exactly as shown in the photos. The pool was wonderful and it was a new experience for us not having to share it with anyone - we normally stay at campsites but now we are spoilt forever! The area is peaceful, beautiful and relaxing and I would highly recommend a stay at Chez Mervent.

My Family and I stayed at Chez Mervent, end July /early August 2013. We had a superb time and the Villa is very well set up, you can feel the love of the owners. It felt just like home, it is so well equipped...everything has been thought through, we all felt very comfortable. It is spotlessly clean.  We did lots of cooking as we mostly stayed at the villa and enjoyed the wonderful pool and sun, we couldn’t think of anything else the kitchen needed. The Freesat English TV and Wifi were both very handy to keep us all entertained!

This villa is equipped with all the board games for playing inside and outside in the pool, airbeds, balls racquets in abundance together with beach towels for the pool area, how thoughtful. You need not go home with any laundry as the villa has two washers and two dryers! Wonderful, saved me from the sun and the daily grind when I got home. I would thoroughly recommend Chez Mervent to anyone and we will be back as long as David and Debra want to rent out their home.

We stayed 2 weeks at Chez Mervent (2 adults, 2 children aged 5 and 7). We all loved it and had an amazing time. The house is fantastic - we have stayed in many rental properties before and it is by far the best we have ever experienced. Spotlessly clean and very easy to keep clean (tiled floors, wipable surfaces), generously equipped (better than home, in many ways...), spacious and well laid out, peaceful and quiet, and with a lovely rural outlook over fields at the back plus of course the amazing pool.  We could easily have stayed the entire fortnight in and around the house but then would have missed out on the local area which also has so much to offer, from the pretty local towns and villages, the forest and lake, and attractions like the zoo and adventure park.

Many thanks to Debbie and Dave who could not have been more kind and helpful throughout the booking process and our stay.

Chez Mervent was the perfect villa for grandparents, parents and three children. Plenty of space for everyone to enjoy themselves! The villa was spotlessly clean and felt very loved - a real home from home, especially the well equipped kitchen. The pool was fantastic and well used by all during our stay. There is plenty to do in the local area - markets can be found within a short distance every day. The local boulangerie was visited daily, and the selection of breads and cakes is very inviting and difficult to ignore! The zoo was a great family outing and wonderful for being so close. We have holidayed in France for over ten years and can definitely say that this villa is the best we have ever stayed at. Thank you Dave and Debbie for allowing us to spend a fantastic two weeks in your wonderful home.

Fantastic house, beautifully designed and located within a quiet but very accessible residential location. Owners' house had every mod-con you can think of, with the bonus of a fantastic private heated swimming pool. Well located for puy-du-fou (voted best theme park in the world) and with lake, park, zoo, village centre all located within 5 minutes, plus town 15 minutes away.

Highly recommended.

When we arrived at this lovely villa - myself, my husband and my son (17) and daughter (14)- we were over the moon at how immaculate everything was and how much effort the owners had put into the standard and quality of the villa. This included leaving information about restaurants, places to see and things to do around the villa, and any answers about anything could be answered in the folder they left or just asking them when they stopped by. We made use of the pool on various occasions and soaked up the rays whenever we could. Puy du fou was a fun day out for the whole family and we went to the Zoo d'Mervent as well which was wonderful, as there were 6 month old lion cubs there. The villa was in a great location for visiting the lake and forest, which would be great for walking or going canoing. Nearly everyday the boys took on the challenge of going to the bakers on their road bikes for our morning croissants, that's what you call a hill!! The kitchen was very well equipped and it was handy to have access to the garage as we could store our bikes. All the rooms were made up and had plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, with the added bonus of the en suite upstairs. The DVD player came in handy on the chillier evenings and we found the temp. very comfortable throughout the day. We really enjoyed the whole of our stay at Chez Mervent and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a fabulous holiday. Thank you so much Debbie and Dave for a wonderful time staying at your villa.
