Chalet Beaumont is a spacious classic alpine pine chalet in the village of Vallandry. The village enjoys worldwide fame due to the Vanoise express, which connects the Les Arcs ski area with its neighbour La Plagne forming what is known as Paradiski, offering over 400km of beautiful ski slopes.

In Summer the mountains look like a chocolate box cover, with wild flowers everywhere and cows with bells around their necks. It is perfect for walking, biking, swimming and paragliding.

The property comfortably accommodates 8 people and comprises:

• The entrance hall, which opens onto:
• The open-plan vaulted living area upstairs and A WC. There are two large sofas, one of which converts to a double bed, and an easy chair arranged around the log burner. The dining table seats 8 with:
• A well-resourced fitted kitchen area to the side. The huge panoramic windows that line the main wall give onto the balcony, which runs almost the full length of the building and from where you can gaze for miles over the Tarantaise valley. During the day it is majestic and takes your breath away; in the evening the sunset is beautiful and at night it is magical with all the lights shining along the opposite side of the valley and along the valley.

You go downstairs to bed! There are:

• Three large twin rooms with wardrobes.
• A bathroom with bath and shower.
• A separate toilet
• An open storage area under the stairs.

About the location

The chalet is just 5 minutes walk to the centre of the village and the main Vallandry lift and you can drive right to the front door to off-load (weather permitting). From the balcony you have an uninterupted view right accross the Tarantaise valley and onto the slopes of La Plagne. The Vanoise express, which connects the Les Arcs resort to La Plagne is just on the outskirts of the village. The ski slopes around Vallandry are particularly beautiful as they are all tree-lined.

Watch out for the setting sun shining off the Mont Blanc in the distance - it goes pink!

Vallandry is not a place for pub crawls and discos. There are, however, some lovely restaurants, relaxing bars and a decent supermarket. The Mont Blanc bar is younger at heart and a great place for watching sport. There is music in the evening and is mainly English (for those wanting a break from their French). 

Le Refuge Pizzaria is always very popular, but reserve early. Similarly, get your order in early for the chicken on the rotisserie at the deli or you'll find they are all reserved! Skis can be hired at several places, but do it online before you arrive to get a discount!

How to get here

The nearest airports are Geneva, Lyon and Chambery. The snow train stops at the bottom of the mountain. It is a 10 hour drive from Calais.
