Welcome to Le Friche, our paradise found. This cottage formed part of a small farming hamlet just outside the village of Parçay les Pins. Set amidst apple orchards and close to pine forests, ideal for walking and cycling. We are about 4 kms from the lake at Rillé with its nature reserve.

If you prefer, why not  relax by our 11 x 5m  swimming pool whilst contemplating which of the many Loire wines or gastronomic restaurants to try next.

Le Friche is ideally situated to visit the many chateaux of the Loire and Vienne, again with their many vineyards, where the viticulteurs are only too happy to offer you a "degustation".

Accommodation detail

The accommodation offered in Le Friche is on two levels.

On the ground floor there is a large twin bedroom with en-suite shower room, a two seater sofa and coffee table and direct access to the private gravelled garden and patio area.

There is a large entrance hall with open aspect and staircase up to the mezzanine landing, large natural stone feature wall and separate toilet with wash basin, there is also a washing machine and tumble dryer located in an under stairs cupboard, and direct access to the private gravelled garden.

Through double doors off the hall, you will find the large lounge dining area with with fireplace and wood burning stove, 2 and 3 seater sofa's and two arm chairs large coffee table plus Satellite TV , DVD player, video player and Hi-Fi. From this room you have direct access to the covered patio area with barbecue tables and chairs.

Off the lounge you will find the large fitted farmhouse style kitchen with lofty vaulted ceiling and original stone fireplace which houses the large gas cooker. This kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, 2nd washing machine, microwave etc.

Upstairs, off the mezzanine landing there are two bedrooms, one double and one twin, both with en-suite shower rooms, two seater sofas and coffee tables, giving guests a place to relax away from the main lounge.

About the location

Le Friche is located in a small hamlet  just outside the village of Parcay les Pins.

Parçay les Pins is a small village situated in a fruit growing area, set amidst picturesque countryside and pine forests. It is about 17 miles from the town of Saumur, 30 miles from Tours in the east and Angers in the west, all of which are sited on the river Loire.

The village is built of a local limestone called "Tuffeau" and is typically French in its appearance. Tuffeau is quarried locally, frequently from underneath the houses themselves providing excellent cellars or 'caves'.

Larger Caverns are now used for growing mushrooms or storing wine. The area where these caves are most noticeable is close to Bourgueil and Saumur where many have been converted into dwellings which are still occupied today.

How to get here

To get to us:

By Air. Tours airport is the closest to us about 50mins they have a connection to Stanstead. the next closest is Angers (1hr),. Poitiers (1hr 15mins) and Nantes (2hrs).

By Rail: There are train stations at Saumur (30 mins) Tours (centre) and Tour (St Pierre) (1hr). These all have connections from Paris or Lille, which conncet with the Eurostar.

By Road: We are about 20 mins from the nearest auto route exit from the North. This is between Chateau la Valliere and Chateau du Loire. This auto route goes north to the main ferry ports and Paris etc. We are also about 20 mins from the autoroute west to Angers, Nantes and the Atlantic coast.
