Mas De La Fontaine translated “the house by the fountain” is a beautiful modern Villa in a truly stunning location just above the picturesque historic medieval village of Camelas.

This totally private property enjoys an elevated unique position providing it with one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the whole of the region.

In one direction you can see across the valleys to the Cathar castles of Queribus and Peyrepertuse. In the other across the plains to the Pyrenees Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea, it really is quite special.

Accommodation detail

The accommodation is spacious and comfortable and has recently been tastefully redecorated throughout.

You enter the Villa into a very large Lounge/Kitchen dinner. There are three sets of double French windows in this 8 by 7 metre room all leading out onto the floodlit terraces, making the Villa very bright and airy.

The kitchen is modern and fully equipped with a large fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, electric oven and hob, and microwave. Indeed there is everything you need to comfortably self cater. There is lots of space for food preparation as well as a breakfast bar.

The lounge has a large oak dinning table and chairs, comfortable leather sofas, and a modern fully enclosed 360° wood burning stove that is an imposing centre room feature. The sofas can be used as double beds should you require. Provided in this room are TV (French and English all the BBC’s and ITV’s) a DVD and a hi-fi system.

There is broadband internet (wi-fi) available. 

From the lounge is a door that takes you into the first double bedroom that benefits from an en-suite shower, sink and toilet. In this bedroom there is a double bed, wardrobes and bedside cabinets with reading lights. There is also a door that leads you out to the floodlit swimming pool terrace, and a window that also opens out onto the terrace.

From the lounge there is another door leading to the second double bedroom.

This bedroom has bunk beds, a wardrobe and is suitable for children. There is a window to the side of the house.

From the lounge you pass into a corridor that accesses the third double bedroom, which is the master bedroom. In this room there is a double bed, wardrobes and bedside cabinets with reading lamps.

There are double French doors that also exit onto the floodlit swimming pool terrace.

From the corridor you also access the fourth double bedroom. In this room there are two single beds that can be combined to make a double should you want. There is a walldrobe and chest and double French doors that lead out onto the back terrace.

The bathroom is also accessed from this corridor. Here there is a bath with shower bidet and a sink. There is also collection of attractive pine storage cupboards.

There are electric radiators throughout the villa making it very comfortable for out of season lets.

About the location

The Villa, open year round, offers a haven for lovers of peace and quiet with its secluded and tranquil location and the reindeer that roam in the adjoining reserve add to this ambience. It is just an 8 minute drive to the “chic” market town of Thuir. The sun kissed Mediterranean beaches, cosmopolitan Perpignan, Spain and the Pyrenees Mountains are all within a 30-minute drive. The winter ski resorts are just one hour away.

• A house cleaning charge of 50e is levied which covers the complete cleaning of the house on departure. It includes the cleaning of all floors, sinks, showers, baths and toilets making it ready for the incoming guests.
