A well equipped edge of village cottage convenient for vineyards, historic sites and unspoilt countryside.
Agrippa Cottage is the end wing of a historic maison de maître. Accommodation on offer comprises:
First Floor
Ground Floor
The whole property is centrally heated and this is included in the rental price.
Agrippa Cottage is on the very edge of a lively village opposite a château about 11 kms from Avallon with its supermarkets and many restaurants. The village has a post office and a bar, which also serves as a bread depot. In the close vicinity are many historic sites including the world heritage site of Vézelay from where Richard the Lion Heart set off for the crusades and the caves at Arcy with evidence of pre-historic man. There is extensive unspoilt woodland and forests for walking and cycling. Canoeing is available with a drop off at the bridge over the charming river Cure some 50 metres from the house. Slightly further afield is the Morvan Natural Park with its many peaceful lakes and forests. Quad Bikes are available for hire there for the more adventurous. Local markets are well worth a visit and in the summer a couple of hours spent at a "vide grenier" (car boot sale) can be fun. The vineyards of Chablis and Irancy are but a short drive away. You can even take a train from the village and enjoy a day trip to Paris!
See Local guide and map for information on nearby towns and facilities.
Travelling by car you would head south on the A6, the "Autoroute du Soleil" leaving the motorway at junction 21 near Nitry. From there turn left onto the D944 as far as Joux la Ville (5 kms). Here turn first right onto the D32 signposted to Voutenay. After 10 kms having skirted past Précy le Sec you reach the main road at Voutenay. Turn left towards Avallon and after 3 kms bear right over the level crossing into Sermizelles. The house is the first on the left at the entry to the village.
It is possible to take the train from Paris direct to the village or by TGV to Montbard which is 45 minutes away by car. To take full advantage of the area however, we consider it essential to have the use of a car here. Cheap flights are available to Paris (Charles de Gaulle or Orly airports). From CDG there are two direct trains each day to Montbard where car hire is available.
See Local guide and map for information on nearby towns and airports.

The cottage is immaculate, as is the village of Sermizelles itself. . . We don't want to go home now but I suspect we'll be back next year!
