Charming Holiday Cottage in Brittany

A warm welcome is extended to guests who rent our Brittany holiday house, a comfortable, well equipped renovated stone 18th century cottage situated within the tiny rural hamlet of La Channais. The cottage has a pleasant situation and lovely gardens.

Holiday Accommodation at Lachannais

La Channais sleeps 6 – 8 and sits within a charming group of traditional renovated Breton stone farm buildings. The house is fronted by a small walled garden from which the front door opens directly into:

• The large living room with massive oak beamed ceiling, teak parquet floor and large fireplace (log burning). The living room also gives access to the rear garden.
• The dining/kitchen is accessed from the living room through an arch in a natural stone wall. The kitchen is fully fitted and equipped with hob, integrated oven, dishwasher and fridge. The dining area seats up to 10 and opens via French doors directly into the front garden. The kitchen/dining area also has an oak beamed ceiling.

A stone-stepped spiral staircase leads from the living room to the first floor hall, with French windows looking over the front garden.

• The main bedroom has a double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and other storage. It overlooks the front garden. It has an en-suite bathroom with bath/shower room; wc; wash hand basin; heated rail and shower point. Both bedroom and bathroom have attractive timber floors.
• The second bedroom has two single beds, wardrobe, chest of drawers and overlooks the front garden.
• The third bedroom overlooks the rear garden. There are four bunk beds and ample storage.
• The main bathroom is entered off the upper hall and has bath / shower; wc; wash hand basin and vanity unit; shaver point and heated towel rail.

Outside

To the rear of the house is a large, sunny, sheltered courtyard for barbecues and al fresco eating. It contains the bike shed / tool shed (4 bikes are provided), which also houses the washing machine / tumble dryer and pulley.

To the other side of the courtyard is our log store (logs are included). A short flight of stone steps leads from the courtyard to the main garden, which is almost totally private, with large lawn and extensive planting, a badminton set is stored in the bike shed. A barbecue is kept in the bike shed and there are a number of garden chairs and tables. There is off street parking for one car (or two smaller ones) and parking is also available on the street. The house has a rowing boat for the use of guests.  A Cleaning service can be booked at cost, otherwise guests are asked to clean and tidy house before leaving. The house is not, unfortunately, suitable for disabled guests.

Our comfortable well equipped renovated stone 18th century cottage is situated within the sleepy rural hamlet of La Channais, near Dinan. The cottage is surrounded by beautiful countryside and has a large private garden and courtyard to enjoy al-fresco easting.

The nearby village of Plouer-Sur-Rance is very attractive and there is a nearby marina to enjoy with restaurant and bar overlooking the beautiful scenery of the River Rance. Plouer-Sur-Rance has a good boulangerie, charcuterie, auberge and a supermarket on its outskirts. There are many great restaurants in surrounding area and the historic medieval town of Dinan has weekly markets to enjoy. Beaches are easily within driving distance as is the popular town of St Malo and popular tourist destination of Mont St-Michele. There is a rowing boat which belongs to the house and is moored on the river close to the cottage.

How To Get To Plouer Sur Rance in Côtes-d'Armor, North West France

La Channais is in northern Brittany, roughly equidistant from the lovely medieval town of Dinan and the attractive seaside resort of Dinard. There are numerous ferry crossings to: Caen (2 hrs 30mins) Cherbourg (2 hrs 30mins) St Malo (30 mins)

There are daily flights from London Stansted to the small local airport of Dinard, which is only 15 mins from the La Channais by car or taxi. For those who prefer to use the Channel Tunnel or shorter ferry routes from Dover, the drive time from Eastern French ports will be 5 – 6 hours excluding stops. Detailed travel directions to the house are provided with confirmation of booking.
