About the location

Les Petits Calins is situated in the small hamlet of Millac, offering a tranquil atmosphere, with an expansive panoramic view across the Dordogne valley and the surrounding woodlands of the region. The nearest village with amenities, Tremolat, one of the most picturesque villages of the region, is about 5km away, through winding tree-lined roads. Here you will find a well-stocked general store, boulangerie, pizzeria/restaurant and bar, a traditional restaurant, post office and a garage. Nestling alongside the River Dordogne is the Bassin Nautique, which provides holiday-makers with a range of water sports including river/pool swimming, canoeing, water-skiing, pedalos, as well as a bar/restaurant for the more relaxing pastimes!!

Leaving the house in the opposite direction, after 3km you arrive at Mauzac, a medieval port on the Dordogne, where gabares used to take the barrels of local wine down to Bordeaux. It is still possible to take a ride down the Dordogne on a restored gabare.

Going a further 5km on, you come to the nearest town, Lalinde, where you will find all the shops and facilities that you would need.

The local area, the Périgord Poupre is essentially a wine growing area, so the summer climate is beneficial to the vines … and holidaymakers! The region is renowned for its natural beauty; sites of architectural and historic interest; and wide variety of activities for the more active holidaymakers.

Within half an hour’s drive of Les Petits Calins, you could visit the famous abbeys of St. Avit Sénieur and Cadouin; the natural features of the prehistoric caves and grottos at Les Eyzies, Le Bugue, Le Buisson and Lascaux; the Medieval villages and towns of Limeuil, Issigeac, Domme, Sarlat, Bergerac and Périgueux; the imposing châteaux on the banks of the Dordogne at Beynac, Castleneaud, Payrac and Marqueysac … and then, after an enjoyable day site-seeing, why not take the opportunity to taste and experience the culinary delights based on the local produce … foie gras, truffles, cêpes, walnuts, strawberries, cheeses, to name but a few …plus the wines of Bergerac, Monbazillac and Pecharmant.

There is so much to attract you to the Dordogne that you will keep returning to find treasures that you have missed.......so, why not start with us, this year?
