Luxurious Adult Only Accommodation in Rural South West France

Two adult only self catering luxurious gites, boasting private terraces and hot tubs, and set in the beautiful landscaped gardens of Le Bourg in the heart of the award winning village of Rioux-Martin. Gites can be rented on accommodation only basis, or with breakfast included, or with the use of one of our classic cars during your stay.

Holiday Accommodation at The Ivy House

The Ivy house is on the eastern wing of the main residence, with views overlooking the private grounds and open countryside beyond. It is a spacious gite with bags of character, and features exposed stone walls and oak beams in abundance. The Ivy house has been decorated and furnished to the very highest standard, with oak floors and stairs.

Accommodation comprises:

• The bathroom, which boasts a large walk in shower, a corner bath and period fittings.
• The spacious bedroom is furnished with stunning Louis XV furniture.
• A top quality ‘Schmidt’ kitchen with full size oven, hob, micro-wave, dishwasher and fridge-freezer.
• A large dining area and luxurious lounge with a leather sofa. It also features a flat screen TV with satellite, DVD player, free Internet access, hi-fi system, hair dryer and ironing facilities.

There is daily room service, a laundry service is available on site, and breakfast can be provided on request.

Outside

The private terrace with its own hot tub, enjoys both the early morning and evening sun, so is ideal for "al fresco" dining. A private BBQ is provided for your enjoyment. Our beautifully landscaped gardens are there for you to enjoy during your stay. One thing is guaranteed, you will not be disturbed, as we have a no children policy.

About Rioux Martin in Charente, Poitou Charentes

We live in the tranquil and beautiful village of Rioux-Martin, which boasts picturesque lakes, many walks and bike trails through pine forests, and has won awards for its beauty and conservation. We offer mountain bike hire on site.

5km away is the market town of Chalais with numerous bars and restaurants, bistros, shops and a well stocked supermarket. The Chateau Talleyrand with its famous architecture holds many art and craft exhibitions throughout the year, and boasts the finest restaurant in the area. On Mondays there is a bustling farmer’s market not to be missed.

We are on the boarders of the departments Charente (famous for its foie gras, cognac and pineau), the Dordogne (famous for its beautiful forests and rivers), the Charente Maritime (boasting unspoilt coastlines, fantastic beaches and the best oyster beds in the world), and the Gironde (which has some of the best wine producing Chateaux in France, and the beautiful cosmopolitan city of Bordeaux).

Our area is one of the least densely populated in France so you can enjoy plenty of space on the roads, in the towns and in the countryside, making your stay with us peaceful and relaxed. There are many fantastic places to visit nearby such as Bordeaux, Brantome, Angouleme, Royan, St Emillion and Cognac.

How To Get To Rioux Martin in Charente, South West France

By Road

By car, you can drive virtually all the way from northern France on the Autoroute system, and we are 20 minutes off of the N 10 about 45km south of Angouleme. We offer secure on site garaged parking for our driving guests.

By Rail

Our nearest town, Chalais (5km) has a train station linked to the TGV network at Angouleme, and from there via either Paris or Lille, to the Eurostar to London. We can collect from either Chalais or Angouleme stations.

By Air

We have no less than 6 airports (Poitiers, Limoges, Angouleme, Bergerac, La Rochelle and Bordeaux), all less than 2 hours from us, serviced from the following airports :- Bristol, Birmingham, Liverpool, Southampton, Gatwick, Luton, Edinburgh, Manchester, Newcastle, East Midlands, Bradford, Liverpool, Stansted, Exeter, Glasgow, Dublin and Cork. Public transport is available from our airports, but we do offer an airport collection service for our guests.
